After having stock internals and PES Supercharger I decided to go other way. Couple years ago I saw the JHM S/c system and decided to change it for my PES system and build the engine for future modifications. So we put apart the engine and call Pauter and JE for customs Rods and Pistons

Welcome! So this is a JHM motor build or DIY?
Thanks!!
DIY
Welcome.
Out of curiosity, are you the SAME “David S4” from PR, on Audizine who purchased the XSPower V8 S4 Headers? I’m asking because I think I’ve seen those tiled floors before somewhere on the internet.
Yes I am; They close my post for no reason so I was never able to post the results
^^ could you please post results? Its been about almost six months since your post.
How are the XS headers holding up in the PR humidity?
Power gains/losses?
Tq gains/losses?
Any modifications to the headers?
Well: I guess We never know… The truth is they fit perfectly with the engine outside the car; but with the engine back on the right header had some fitment issues because it was to close to the crossmember. So because I don’t want any noises on my car; I decided to take them off and sell them to a friend of mine that told me he want it to modify it himself… Since that day don’t know anything about them…
Welcome. That sounds like a gigantic project.
Where are you located? +
Also what did they do to the block…when they changed the pistons and rods, did they re-hone the block?
David,
Welcome to Audirevolution.net. Good to have you here. This is a very exciting build. For those of you who don’t know, David has been a good friend to JHM for a long time. JHM has been very excited to have been a big part of the build David has been doing. After the PES issues on his car David was in a spot where he needed some parts ASAP. While JHM couldn’t get him all the parts he needed in the time frame that was available, they all worked together to support Dave as much as they could. The best outcome on David’s car always being the main goal.
The XS header mess, David ordered JHM headers, with the small timeline available till the motor would be going back into the car, JHM was worried they might not make David’s timeline. So, the guys at JHM let David know. David then tried the XS pipes, only to find out what everyone else did. They don’t fit and they are not like the JHM headers. There are major differences between the two.
Since then David has been enjoying the car while he breaks in the motor. David has a few great stories of the night and day difference between the PES kit and the JHM kit.
David, what a great looking car and build. Glad to have you here to share all this.
Oooo…hehe, thanks for the update. ;D
Welcome to AR David! Your S4 looks amazing!
So after all the issues and all the time I have to wait for custom rods and piston for the car I was finally able to get to the dyno and test the car.

On my personal opinion I’m very happy with the JHM S/C system. With the PES S/C I get 373 awhp @ 9psi but what I don’t like was that after 3,500 rpm I felt the car like a stock motor (car just die on high revs). With JHM S/C I was able to get 400 awhp @4-5 psi and it feels like a whole new car. Since the moment you step on the gas the cars is pushing hard all the time. I also was able to race my dad on his audi TT 2002 (not quattro with 460 whp) with both kits. With the PES I dind’t have any chance to beat him. 2 weeks ago we race again and starting on 2nd gear (25-30 mph) I was able to beat him by 4-5 car lenghts…
Good stuff David ! Those are some sexy photos. Great to see a DIY build with jhm parts
I’m located in Puerto Rico
When the pistons and rods were change the area was clean and new piston and rods were install, nothing else. This engine only have at the moment 40k miles, and JE pistons were an exact copy of the OEM pistons we get out of the car…
Any plans for a smaller pulley?
Very cool build, are you planning on pushing the motor further?
Did issues with PES or other factor cause you to build the motor, or were you just doing it for more potential power? If more power, any plans to jump up to a 8-10psi pulley? Isn’t 4-5psi even below their stock pulley size? What’s the gas like down there btw?
Thanks for sharing. Possibly the first successful motor build on a b6/7 s4 that has been made public that wasn’t done fully by JHM. That’s pretty cool in itself.
