Audi S6/S8 V10 Exhaust

As we all know there are numerous options for the Audi S6 from custom to Manufactured. Lets start a thread of a collection of videos and setup so that people can decide for themselves what exhaust they want for their v10 powered sedan.

Just stumbled on the Meisterschaft option for the S8 and it sounds beastly

Anyone with a custom setup, please feel free to post a video and exhaust information i.e Part numbers and tubing size and material makeup.

And yes, i know V8A6 is developing a custom exhaust for HP purposes.

Fun idea.

If you are going to use this as a Buyers guide for v10 S6 exhausts, then detailed specs on each one is going to be important. Many of them weren’t designed for more than sound, and a small bump in performance. Like the Milltech. It’s diameter is only 2.36, IIRC. Stock is 2.25. Not a huge difference. Not when your paying $2000 USD for one.

Also, I posted the HMS one before, and was quickly made aware that they ‘cheat’ by posting the sound clips for all their exhausts in that chamber, which makes pretty much any exhaust sound incredible.

The reason why a v10 exhaust sounds so much better than say, a v6, is because for each RPM you have ten explosions instead of six. So, a v10 at 3000 rpm sounds as smooth as a v6 at 5000 RPM. There is a lot more to it than that, but that is a big part of why the engines with more cylinders sound better.

Now, what HMS is doing by providing the sound clip in that room, is multiplying the explosions again and again, as they bounce off the walls and echo. It gets louder AND smoother, and sounds completely insane. Same kinda deal when you drive through a tunnel.

However, take the cars out of that room and onto the street like all the other clips, and youll have a better idea of what it really sounds like.

Sakimano has a list of rules for exhaust videos. For the Info Dump, Ill eventually put together an Exhaust Buyers guide with clips. But the clips will have to meet the criteria set out by Sakimano, so that a fair and accurate comparison can be done.

If you want to do an official S6 Exhaust Buyers guide, while providing all the critical specs AND meeting the video criteria, that would be amazing, and Ill add it to the Info Dump. Otherwise I would say the clips found in this thread would be more for entertainment.

Just listend to that Meisterschaft clip on the S8. Very cool!

Sorry I’ve been MIA for a couple months… been busy! Anyways, my S6 came with the Milltek exhaust with an X-pipe. While I do love it, it wouldn’t have been my first choice, for the reasons posted above. I’m not convinced it adds much power, but it does sound great. An odd thing is that during the first 2 minutes or so of driving, It sounds like there’s a rattle in my exhaust, making it sound like a crappy Camaro exhaust. After 2 minutes, the rattle is gone and it sounds like full-blown V10 awesomeness. Anyone else experience this on the Milltek (or any other) exhaust?

So let this be a first-hand opinion that if you’re going to buy an (expensive) exhaust, I’d skip over the ones that don’t add much performance value.

Lol, is it just me or did revving the engine knock the camera over?
