Has anybody gone to the Auto Shows like Detriot, Washington DC, etc? I just went to the Washington DC auto show to look at the new cars and was surprised. It was a pretty sad show! Most of the OEMs were catering to the normal nonperformance market like I have never seen before.
Audi had the prime floor space right by the entrance to the lower room. But the models on display were not that interesting. They had most of the S models, newer diesel models, RS5 coupe, matte Daytona grey R8 V10, and SQ5. The matte Daytona grey exclusive paint was a six grand option for the R8 - holy shit! Unfortunately the SQ5 was all locked up because that is a cool car. It has the V6T in it with a little more power, 340hp and 350ft-lbs. There was no RS5 convertible or RS7, which sucked. Those were two of the three cars that I wanted to see but were not there.
Mercedes only had the one AMG car on display, a SLS AMG coupe with the gull wing doors.
BMW had the new M5 on display and it is jam packed it that engine compartment. Doing a tune up would be a pain and oddly enough the Audi V8TTs had more room. The BMW interiors are a little heavy on tiny buttons too.
The Cadillac CTSV is a nice car but that shifter is sloppy as hell.
The Fiat girls around the little test track stole the show. Best eye candy in the place.
Jaguar has a new FX model that was interesting. It was underpowered like all Jags but cool nonetheless.
Chevy didn’t have the 2014 Corvette on display which is a shame. That was the third car that I wanted to see in person since someone here posted a thread about it.
Lastly Ford had the best display of the Domestics. I have to say those Ecoboost engines are pretty cool. The DI injectors look just like the Audi ones. I sat in the Shelby GT 500 convertible that was buried in the back corner and that would be a fun car! The shifter feels tight but the throw is a little too long. Sixty grand for 600+ horsepower is not bad either.
Just thought I should share.
