When it sits in the hot sun for a while, it won’t open. It clicks but doesn’t unlatch. Any ideas which part is the culprit?
For the Avants this is something normal in the hotter months. There have been a few thoughts on how to properly fix and thoughts on why this happens. The one thought is that the heat expands the connector to the latch retractment enough that it’s just loose enough to not work. The other thought is the actuator itself bleeds down but you hear the popping so I’m not too sure on that
I think it’s a tension and heat thing. Try taking off the back cover and leaving it exposed that does two things One it let’s heat escape and two when it does happen again you can better see what the fail point is. Keep in mind you will have to get back there to look obviously
Thanks Justin; I was hoping you would share your knowledge.
Probably faulty latch. I’d start with that. If electric actuator making sound as if it’s trying to operate, then it most likely is fine. I chased trunk not opening issue quite thoroughly on my first sedan and replaced nearly all components. In the end it was just a faulty latch, cheapest part of all lol
Thanks.any update on this or still waiting to get the time.
Like mr wrong posted you can go the latch route it is a cheap replacement. usually if you pull the latch out you can check the load spring and see if its weak as well.
Thanks guys. Haven’t gotten around to doing this yet, but I really appreciate your help.
