Avant rehabilitation

After several months of searching, I finally picked up a pretty rough 2002 B6 A4 Avant last month. Main purpose to be a 3rd car for us so I can take the S4 down to do chains and maybe some other crap. Also, the lady really wants a 4 door wagon, so if it works well enough, might be her main car.

The good:
-Only paid $2300
-Good compression
-Rides and runs pretty good actually
-Timing belt job done within the last 20k miles
-decent aftermarket Alpine head unit that was pretty well installed
-new battery

The bad:
-So far I’ve had to send the ABS module off to be repaired due to a wheel speed sensor error that wasn’t the wheel speed sensor. All good now
-Replace the front lower valance. It had been ripped of in some sort of accident
-Water pump was leaking like a sieve when the engine was cold, but would stop when it warmed up. I went ahead and just did a complete timing belt job. No more leaky.
-No communication to Air bag module, pulled the center console apart and found it was half disconnected. Still wouldn’t communicate. Initially sent the module off for repair, but it was unrepairable, so picked up a used one, and all good now.
-No communication to front passenger door module. The wires in the door jamb were frayed/broken, soldered them back together.
-Changed ATF fluid/filter and the fluid in all 3 diffs - was nasty
-Replaced all air filters, they were turrible
-needs some vacuum lines replaced, probably some check valves…hell, should do PVC eventually too
-replacing climate control. Getting numerous codes that I think may be the control unit itself.
-tires were bald. stole the wheels/tires from the S4 for now
-new rear brake pads
-some dings and scratches
-looks like it’ll need upper control arms before too long

There are some other things rough about it, but nothing terribly major. Doubt I’ll do much if any modding. At most maybe a test pipe, stage 1 tune, install S4 springs and new struts when I do control arms. Possibly S4 brakes as well since the B6 A4 has somewhat weak brakes.

Haha 4x4. I love driving my mum’s 1.8t a4 in the winter because it gets heat into the cabin so much quicker vs the V8 lol

I had a b6 a4 1.8t avant in wuartz silver many moons ago. Looked way better lol.

Paint those lowers!

It’s the 1.8. I bet it did, just trying to get it running right before I do much else. It was a piece. Forgot to mention but has 130k miles.

Finally has heat after flushing the heater core today. Previous owner had green shit coolant in there.
