Great article in Road and Track testing the R8 in every possible permutation. 6 in all. They did the same thing with the Corvettes a couple months ago.
Here’s the test data…R8 4.2 coupe was their favourite interestingly.

also interesting is that the 4.2 spyder turned in better numbers than the 4.2 coupe. not so with the 5.2 variants. was the 4.2 spyder tested elsewhere, or did it have a different tranny…those quasi slick michelins…race gas…the stig at the wheel…? ? ? ?
Seems they don’t shift at quite the same speeds. Tranny difference then?

The coupe appears to have either been driven less well, or was manual vs. egear or whatever (R tronic?) explaining the time difference…with the R tronic/auto spyder leaving a little MPH on the table due to drivetrain loss
that’s my only guess…I have no idea though.
I mean the spyder was quicker by a tenth 0-110, the coupe was quicker by a tenth 0-120, and the spyder was back on top by a tenth 0-130.
So I figure the spyder shifted between 110-120 and the coupe shifted between 120 and 130.
However the green line on the graph seems to show both shifting after 120. 'tis a mystery.
