Great video! Im proud to have JHM components installed ;D
I want to know more about what that S5 has done, although I can make educated assumption:
light weight front + rear rotors
tune
stage IV clutch and light weight flywheel maybe intake spacers
maybe an exhaust
That B5 does look amazing…if only it had a V8 in it…lol
I need to not watch this video ever again, and the talks of the motor program info being released has really put me in a corner. Depending on my employment situation I may have to pull my motor and ship it off…
perhaps it relates to california air resources board not permitting non-exempt performance modifications to late model vehicles registered in the state of california. or maybe the car owner has a p.o. box or domicile address to save money.
It kinda amuses me to see a california license plate on a S5 4.2 supercharged car, then advertise this on youtube, puts some liability on the shop and car owner. not that I care, but someone could…
first post on this forum. you guys are exceptionally funny, cruel, but back it up with empirical data.
I wish I could watch video on this internet. :-\ I’m always having to catch up on months of video links when I get home, but is sure does make for a fun youtube marathon!
You’re reading the comment above out of context. Read page 1.
The bold portion: There are THOUSANDS of cars that have S/C’s from the factory. If they meet CARB approval standards what makes you think an aftermarket version cant?
Back what up with emperical data?
Mystery post from mystery member. Introduce yourself. What kind of car do you have…
The WB B5 could be wideibis. Not sure where he’s located but he’s on here. Not sure how many conversions exist in the states but I’m guessing the Avants outnumber the sedans, they both look pretty darn sharp!
Yes thats mine. Im in CA. JHM still has the car but I should be getting it back in the next couple weeks. Pretty excited!
I have no idea how many conversions exist but I would agree more avants than sedans. I wish I would have done an avant looking back…
Haha it really is. Sounded raspy and weak compared to the others… probably why there weren’t really any sounds clips of my car haha. Oh well… just another reason to pick up an RS4 now!
There is also a guy out there with a B7 RS4 conversion, crazy thing is, I saw him driving in Austin the weekend of F1. Meaningless post but I mention it thinking you possibly know him. It was amazing, his next step was to swap engines but I’m not sure he ever did,
Great video! Does AZ produce these types of vendor videos often? Pretty cool.
If thats the car your talking about I don’t know the owner. According to the ad he never got to swapping the engines. would have been pretty cool if he did.
I’m Jason, an S5, 2012 model year, before the V8 was discontinued.
Saki is correct, but my soapbox is but a matchbook.
Oem superchargers are made by aftermarket manufacturers just like many auto parts are, pagid brake pads, ac delco iridium spark plugs manufactured by denso. and yes car that came with a turbo or supercharger, they are legal. But in California, all performance mods that effect emissions are illegal until the tuner company, or aftermarket manufacturer puts up some money and a car to take to a certified facility that will impartially test the tailpipe emissions to see if it meets acceptable requirements. if it does, then the performance modification receives an exemption number from the state and now it can not only be legally driven on the street, but can be smogged every two years, and be sold within the state. good example, K&n filters has some California legal air filters, and some that are not. Even if a vehicle equipped with an illegal filter, but it passed tailpipe emission/sniffer test, it would fail the visual portion of the test.
I find it sad that some manufacturers don’t attempt to submit to the test. especially on a kit like a supercharger mod that has a lot of gross profit in each kit sold, that is, if it’s for a late model Audi…
If a vehicle is smogged in the State of California, and the smog tech reads the bar code/vin with a scan gun, then looks at the engne option and kinda notices a supercharger when it’s supposed to be naturally aspirated, and no E.O. sticker from the state, then the tech risks losing his smog license and income and possibly has to sell off a smog dyno, AWD cars dont go on the dyno, because the tech cannot make a living performing smogs tests anymore.
I know this because I’m a resident of California, and I have an auto parts store and I’ve been in the industry for 26 years, and I’m 41, so I kinda grew up in a parts store!
By the way, Saki, I mean Pinkberry was getting blasted on a5oc recently, over compression testing a 2.0T A5…dunno if he was suspended, but the brits were reprimanded, you’re welcome “pinkberry”
I’ll offer up the due dilligence: http://www.ncdlinc.com
so saki doesn’t have to do it for me.
by the way, saki, if you’ve read my threads about you, you would know that I actually respect what you write, even if it’s abrasive. Where did you stay in Paris?
