B6/B7 water pump replacement

Hi,

Has anyone replaced their water pump on their b6 or b7 s4. I am replacing mine while my engine is out, but I don’t have a socket to fit the bolts. They are those “e sockets” but my set goes down to E10. So I’d like to order the proper size. Also can anyone recommend somewhere to buy the socket from.

Any place like Amazon, Sears, Matco, or if you really want some nice/expensive sockets then go to Snap-On.

For instance: http://www.amazon.com/GearWrench-80583-4-Inch-8-Inch-2-Inch/dp/B000NICFBG/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1417466557&sr=8-10&keywords=e+torx+sockets

The water pump is actually one of the better units almost never need to replace them. So changing it will probably be the last time you ever need to do that again. As for the size I cam go look but every time I have removed the water pump I just used a torx but. Take a picture for reference and I’ll go see if I have a extra bolt laying around I can find out exactly what size it is

It is some grill material availiable at PEP boys for like $40. I posted a flash(shows the grill), no flash shot(what it normally looks like). It is screwed to the inside of the grill after painting black. It basically hides everything behind it but its not noticiable. It also protects the fine fins of the condenser I replaced for being all dented when I uograded the intercooler.

Accidentally posted this in the wrong thread maybe?

Nicettrs I like what you did and it would be nice to hear more but I think maybe the post is in the wrong section

Sorry I don’t know how it got here

It’s an ex I ended up getting a smaller set from harbor freight. I couldn’t see buying an expensive set of sockets I would use once

E8 damn auto correct.

This thread delivered haha.

Bigtonykoolade glad you found a set at HF, spending big bucks for a tool you might use once or twice sucks.

Nicetts - Nice TTS ;D Good job with the grill.
