B6 S4 A/C Lines Removal For JHM S/C Kit

Damn, I would also suggest sending it to JHM for the work. It will be done right and they way you are describing the situation I’d be nervous of them running into an install problem and screwing something up even though as others have said its basically a bolt in procedure. Pulling the motor is a 10 hour job as per audi suggestion iirc, I did it in less then that on my first attempt.

Good luck MDUBZ, at least you prefer to take our recommendations into consideration. I hope everything works out in the end, but I’d go the “best” route possible. We want to see a great build thread with an awesome final product and I think that is a JHM all the way type of build.

Unfortunately DWITH, I had no reason to believe 3Zero3 was a bad choice. I still think they do good work and they will take responsibility for their mistakes. I do however believe that they overcharge.

BTW, I just received a message saying they will definitely get back to me tomorrow.

Yeah, I was always under the impression the 8-9 hour estimate in this thread was accurate -> http://www.euroaddiction.net/forum/b6-b7-s4-diy-how-section/3169-b6-b7-s4-diy-complete-engine-pull-guide.html. Not sure how many hours they charged me for the actual engine pull because the invoice that I have just says engine pull and tear down to point of failure - 26.5 hours.

Thanks euro, I’m going to get the wheels turning tomorrow to get the car over to JHM. I guess with the money I’m spending it would be extremely heartbreaking for something catastrophic to happen. Mine as well just pay to ship it and probably spend less in the end despite the added costs.

I wasn’t saying they aren’t capable of the work just that in a project if this scale there’s more to it than bolting things back into place. Attitude, involvement and transparency are paramount as well. 3zero3 and revolutions in the springs both rubbed me the wrong way in my dealings with them. JHM always fixed it even from a thousand miles away. Many late nights on the phone and even a road trip to Detroit with no power steering became the solution haha. Can’t wait until you get over these little bumps and get your monster back together so hopefully I can beg for a ride.

Doing a motor pull to install headers and other JHM goodies in my garage on the floor myselff I can tell u 3zero3 is reaching deep into ur pockets. I also installed the supercharger myself. With that experience, I wouldn’t let any shop install it unless it was JHM. I did that on the floor in my garage too. I’ve also flash tuned my car twice and it is super easy. I even let a buddy borrow my cable and he flashed his car with no problems.
If u want it done right send it to JHM or do it urself. JHM does send a thorough set of instructions on installing the supercharger.

MDUBZ - good stuff on deciding to send it to JHM

^^ Got a build thread/vids?

It seems like the right thing to do bango. Plus, that will be an epic drive home.

Just so you guys know I received an email this morning from 3zero3 telling me that the a/c lines were pulled and shipped to JHM last week. They sent me a tracking number saying they’ll be there on Thursday. I’m happy pretty happy about this info, just wish they would have let me know.

On a build this big and pricey communication between a shop and the customer is key and that is something that they are lacking so far. This is especially important when they are installing things with specific instructions.

I don’t think you will regret going to JHM and I can only imagine the epic drive home! Make sure to take a good camera and get some amazing pics for the build thread. I’m sure if you ask JHM they will also document a lot of your build with pictures for you to show off on AR.

I plan on getting a GoPro for the more scenic parts of the trip and I’m sure JHM already has plenty pics that they just haven’t released yet. Regardless, when I get the car back, I can assure you all will be documented in my build thread. I’m probably going to also do the split external microphones set up, one in the engine bay, one on the back bumper. Should make for some nice footage and sound.

You should get a couple go pros, onea external and one internal on the tach lol. Have you looked into STE PPD? I loved mine.

All these recent jhm build make me wish I had a v8 still lol.

Not sure I can justify buying 2 GoPros but with some editing I can create the illusion of there being 2 cameras for you lol. I have seen those PPDs but I haven’t heard much feedback on them. I’ve been thinking about grabbing a couple of these -> http://jhmotorsports.com/shop/catalog/images/Universal_plx_devices_sm-DM-6_vac-boost_combo.jpg. The PPD has some great features though so it’s definitely something for me to consider. Anybody else have any experience with these?

True on the gopro but don’t need the newest ones for what you’re looking to do. The originals are still a good bang for the buck.

I have some video ill have to dig up of the ppd. 0-60 60-90 60-130 AFR, IAT, boost pressure etc. I believe jimmy has it and so does axel as well.

True… I really want to get the hero3+ silver edition at least though so it has wifi and the mobile app. I think this will make the experience much better especially when the camera is mounted externally. I guess I could buy an original for the internal tach camera as that won’t matter. But I could probably also just borrow one from one of my friends that has one.

I don’t have a build thread. Im too lazy to create a thread. I do have a video of me running against a camaro with nitrous in some random thread on here.

I looked at this. Hero 3 black vs. 3+ silver. I thought 3 black was a better item.

What am I missing?

Where’s the video, on youtube?

I dont think the silver is any better. IIRC the + models are smaller, better battery and wifi, better mic and a new processor for better low light filming but the actually filming capability was not improved. So the black still has better filming options then the silver +. I have the black and am happy with it, I don’t think the average user ever uses them to the full potential when it comes to editing video etc.

They’re identically sized (the cameras). The waterproof case on the + is slightly smaller (visual trick). It’s also less waterproof if you’re big into diving. Can’t go as deep as the 3 case.

I have heard the battery is indeed better. Wonder if you can just buy a 3+ battery and pop it in the 3.

As for the microphone, man they’re crap. external mic is a must. Either one with a long cord for filming car sounds etc or a small onboard attachable mic for everything else. I have both.

Yup, mics are garbage. And I think the processor is why the battery life improved, not the battery itself.

From what I’ve read, the 3+ is smaller(not much and I don’t care about this anyways), better battery life, 30% more battery life, faster wifi, and has a better lens with better picture quality, better low light capture, and the ultra wide format is more of a wide angle than the 3 which I’ve heard is more like a fish eye view.
