b7 rs4 bank 2 running rich and lean with codes on the same bank?

Just out of curiosity, try the following logging for the misfires. The recommendations by the other smart(er) guys in this thread come first of course.

Log block 3 with one or more of blocks 15, 16, 17.

Or use Advanced Measuring blocks and check off all block 3 measurements and the misfire counter measurements in blocks 15-17. So 8 misfire counter measurements and 4 measurements from block 3. This way is preferable since you get all the info in one logging session.

You’ll need to go through the second ecu controller (“Engine-II” controller under the drivetrain tab IIRC) to get the misfire blocks to populate.

Log the following use cases:

  • Idle

  • Light throttle (cruising style, 0-18%) holding at various RPMS (2k, 3k, 4k) while driving in various gears.

  • heavier throttle accelerating

Just curious to see which cylinders are misfiring and under what conditions (Since those codes aren’t in your original post)

Looks like a I have a slight leak

can you film that with someone revving it? Throw some smoke in or put some baby powder there and see if it blows everywhere on idle/revving

I can try at a later time

Eek. I often times forget what happens to snow state cars.

mhmmm

lol wait until you see salt stains that end up in the engine bay somehow…

Would a exhaust leak cause misfires by mis reading the exhaust fumes and calling for more/less fuel which could cut back fuel needed to ignite?

Yep, it almost looks like coolant stains. Annoying stuff, I wait until spring to clean the engine bay.

I ordered plugs that were ngk and noticed it was in a platinum edition packaging indicating platinum plugs. I don’t recall my past plugs being platinum. Maybe the shipper sent the wrong version plug?

You’re fine. Just check your part# against the link.

Seems like 8 new injectors did the trick. And def carbon build up after 500 miles of cleaning LOL

Wow only 500 miles. It’s hard to justify spending $ to have it soda blasted or have my Indy remove the manifold and scrape it myself as either way all that hard work or $ will inevitably be spent again… I had my coils/plugs/front o2 replaced and smooth sailing since. Seems a good place to start with these kind of issues. Hope everything worked out tony. I know we were talking o2 replacements the other week and I guess that didn’t do the trick. Audis like to keep our wallets light but it’s worth it.

Running with malfunctioning injectors probably didn’t help the carbon buildup. :frowning:

yeeppp… we had the valves spit shinning clean too. and we used the soda/walnut blaster. new injectors seem to have done the trick, hopefully the rich and lean codes go away too! here’s a picture from after the cleaning.

sorry, don’t know how to edit posts on here but just something to look at when your manifold is off, i found that the passenger side bank flaps have a bit more play then the driver side… i didn’t go to investigate more because i’ve never had a fault code or power loss from it but just take a look and see if you guys have that problem too…

So you did the cleaning like three days ago and already ha e 500 miles? Do you drive the coolest cab in the northeast, or do you have a long commute?

He drives a lot. Lol I believe it was Tony that put 40k miles on our clutch in one year.

;D

lol nooo no cab here… companies should have me R&D new parts considering the milage i put on this thing to find the in’s and out’s of products
