b7 rs4 bank 2 running rich and lean with codes on the same bank?

900 miles since the decarb!, 400 since the injectors and so far so good! no misfire codes no lean/rich codes! but still have codes for the rear o2 sensors on both banks for (heater circuit) trying to save that until the CEL comes on daily because the rears i was told don’t monitor fuel ratio’s, etc.

that’s good to hear. Bit of a kick in the face to have to buy injectors. That’s the weakest link on the Rs4.

Carbon buildup is really not a big deal…but it seems at 100,000 miles or so, lots of cars are having misfire problems related to failing or unhappy injectors.

Has anyone having these problems sent their injectors out to be serviced? I think it’s $20/injector and they come back like new. Not sure if it would work, but certainly worth a try vs. paying $800-1000 for 8 injectors.

For those who have done replacement, might be a good gamble to get your old ones serviced and then sell them.

Are the rear O2 sensors similar to the S4? Because I keep seeing you mentioning that they don’t have anything to do with fuel ratios. The B6/7 S4s use the secondaries for long term fuel trim, I would imagine the RS4 doing the same. This is the reason why the rear o2s aren’t just shut off in the JHM tune, because the ECU still need the inputs. I’m not sure if this effects much, but I guess it could cause less than stellar gas mileage.

Just order eBay injectors that look the same, don’t even worry about the part number…injectors are injectors, right? ::slight_smile:

You failed to give credit, so I took the liberty

yup will be sending out 6 of the 8 since the other two needed vice grips to remove

sad day, the problem came back… also a new code came up that i don’t understand…

bank 2 sensor 1 stuck on rich
bank 2 post catalyst too lean
U0001??? High Speed can communication bus?

don’t know how to edit posts, but i did not get around to purchasing a new crank case breather hose yet, still think this is the cause of my issues?

when i get these codes, the exhaust note changes just a bit… say I’m doing 60 mph and press the cloth, shift to 4th and coasting at 60 in neutral and slowly letting go of the clutch in 4th gear when the engine is hot the exhaust makes an abnormal 2 seconds of fast burbling before the burble goes to normal burbling. its hard to describe.

Tony got to have 150 posts before you can edit.

I can’t comment on the codes, but I’m sure someone with a bit more knowledge can help you out! Personally if the breather hose was sealed off properly you should have no issues with that piece.

thanks for the 150 post tip. and the hose was temporarily fixed so i assume it can contribute to it?

on another note, maybe my rear o2 sensors were swapped accidentally during the gutting process of the pre cats

Easiest way to know if the hose is the issue would be to do the heater hose fix. Here’s what mine ended up looking like. Don’t mind the coolant stains on the manifold lol.

Its pretty subtle and its mostly covered by the carbon fibre cover price anyways.

Nice where did you source the hose from? Or what size did you go with?

I’m thinking maybe when gutting my pre cats the shop swapped o2 sensors and didn’t even know it ?

Codes: both sensor 2’s on bank 1&2 have heater circuit codes

Or broke them

3/4" iirc. Just measure the ends to be sure.

Its just heater hose from Napa. $1-2 a foot.

thanks

Revised version of what mistro did. Went to autozone and got a 90 degree piece so that rubber isn’t collapsing when hot or when suction is happening.

Nice. Get your codes sorted?

How are the new injectors working?

Injectors are good. The misfires at idle went away. As I posted before the lean and rich codes came back. It’s raining about 4" now so I can’t drive it hard with this new piece in ^ as I did this just 5 hours ago bored in the garage with nothing to do since it’s down pouring. But this weekend I shall beat her up and reply back. My one question is that the tubing that was broken is for bank1. Now that being said wouldn’t that throw a code for just bank 1?
My codes are for bank 2 or would it create more or less vacuum for bank 2 as well and just ultimately confuse the ecu

No idea

Have you summoned jhm on that?

Get your facts laid out clearly and concisely and summarise it then email it to v8. Pm Jake too. See if they have any thoughts
