so I left my house and released the parking brake, everything was normal. got to a friends house went to pull it and there was absolutely no resistance whatsoever. it didn’tit have that feeling like when the cable snaps it just feels disconnected. are these platforms known to have issues and where should I be looking first at the rear brakes or under the center console?
i got under the car and couldn’t see any issues with the cable. im thinking its in the cabin. is there a way to get to the cable easily or am i going to have to pull the center console all the way out and if so has anyone done this. i hate woking on the interior
The easiest way to see what is going on is to pull the interior trim under the parking brake handle. Usually when one cable breaks the hook at the back of the handle pulls to one side when you pull up on the handle.
I have had to replace a bunch of parking brake cables and to do it easily takes a combination of loosening the cables at the rear calipers and taking apart the interior. Really not that bad of a job and it is easy to get the center console out when compared to other things like the sunroof cartridge, dashboard, pedal assembly, or HVAC vent system.
Sunroof…so complicated. The was a guy on az who took his apart to fix a leak and he basically wanted to sell the car it was so much of a cluster fuck of parts
sorry, I meant just in front of the rear wheels. I think you there is a adjustment thing that you just twist. I might be confusing it with one of my previous audis but Im pretty sure its there. It would take a minute to find if its there.
Lol your arguing with my personal experience? Ill let you think what you want on that one I have had mine apart and together multiple times. I would say installing intake manifold spacers is more complicated then removing a few screws.
Saki is referencing what I said. The sunroof on these cars is tedious since all the trim panels and headliner have to line back up right without and rolled edges or dirty finger prints. The person working on the car also has to keep all the bolts and parts organized or they can mix stuff up easily. The A8s are even worse with their expensive Alcantara headliners.
Here is the picture that I could see on the last post in that thread. The other pictures didn’t work.
I will get back at this soon as possible. my springs are also here so I just need to find some time. moving to a new house at the end of the month so itll be chaos for the next month but my new place has a double garage. I cannot wait to setup my tools and get to work. wifes not allowed in lol.
