Hi guys, I posted issues with bank 2 multiple misfires awhile ago, unfortunately I have not found the issue including the dealer, I will try to make it short and simple, had no problems before I did the decarb, after decarb I installed new injectors since dealer said they were leaking a bit, less the 100kms I have p0305-0307-0308-0306-0300, I have tried everything, checked vacuum lines, new coil packs and spark plugs, switched old injectors back in, new IM gaskets and now removed the cats to check for carbon, looks fine. I just don’t get it?? My wife did put one tank of 87 octane but I went though that awhile ago, since re checking everything a million times I cant get very far with out bank 2 having multiple misfires. The dealer has seen the car a few times and is at a loss as well, they said everything looks good but they don’t have any news other then it appears to be perfect on there diagnostics system.
have they checked for a blocked egr valve/system, or possibly cam position sensor?
Having it isolated can be more helpful. Can you feel the car miss fires. Do you get the blinking light on the dash when the miss fires happen. Do you have a vagcom.
I have heard and seen some odd misfire issues in the path. I’m happy to give you a list of things to check and we can go down the list till we find what it is.
How is your fuel filter. Let me know any answers to the above questions and we can get started.
It’s isolated to one bank, did they make sure the HPFP was giving the proper PSi
That would be my first guess.
If you have a vagcom then I would go into measuring value blocks 3, 103, and 106 and log them. Both at idle and while driving.
If you don’t see steady fuel rail pressure then I would get the high pressure fuel pump rebuild kit from JHM and rebuild both pumps.
hey guys, egr was test, i even unplugged it and set off a code, cam sensor I guess could be an issue?? would it throw a different code?worked fine when i reset and plugged in, no vag available, HpFp I believe was tested at the dealer, they did recommend me to change one fuel pressure valve right off the fuel rail and yes its only bank 2, i replaced valve, no help to the misfires. thanks for any help, this is driving me crazy!!! car worked great before decarb and new injectors
Jimmy gave you real good blocks to test to see if it’s a fuel issue. I would suggest getting a vagcom everything diagnostic wise we can help and interpret but you need a vagcom to gather further data.
Can you get this to happen every time your driving. Does it matter if the car is warm or cold. Also try to answer the questions I asked in my last post. All this information is going to be very important in solving the issue.
Im going to get a new fuel filter tomorrow and try it, the car seems to react the same all the time, about 30 kms after code reset and multiple misfires on bank 2, always seems to be cyl 5 first or p0300. right now the cats are out since i really thought that was the problem, they look a bit carboned up but i dont see one hole plugged, the o2 sensors look quite carboned but again im not throwing o2 codes. it looks like i may have to invest into a vagcom, I do notice the car shaking when the engine light is one or even blinking, I would say that the car doesnt even feel crisp when its warm and the codes are clear. question guys, would you flip each side hpfp??? I think they can be flipped?
hey guys, so heres the update, cats and o2 sensors are good, dealer things a have a bad ecm for bank2, they said they would switch bank ecm units and re program to work, they said this will find out if the ecm is the problem with out buying a new one at $1200, whats your thoughts???
Extremely possible yes. I would have then do the work to verify that a it. Then contact jhm. They can sell you a ecu and clone your oem ecu. This way you don’t have to pay 1200 for a new ecu.
thanks for the heads up, im crossing my fingers,
Yeah definitely check with jhm for there help and let us know what the dealer finds out.
So had the car ecm switched and reprogramed, it was a no go, still having misfires on bank 2, so i’m told that I only have 2 places to look, hpfp ( which is getting reviewed from the Ecm history stored for spikes or drops) or the new injectors that I already switched with bank 1, otherwise a short in the wire harness. Everything else has been checked and rechecked. What is happening is that is bank 2 is getting way too much fuel. Again that’s for the heads up to call Jhm . Thanks all
Weird. Another member was running intensely rich and unfortunately it killed o2 sensors. Hope you sort it before that.
It’s a confusing situation dealer can’t figure it out. My money is on the injectors. But the dealer is saying no based on the read outs, it’s the only thing new since the de carb when the misfires started,
You do kinda need to work backwards on this. They did something wrong. Do you have the car now or does the dealer
I had the same codes on my car, but jhm figure out that was the HPFP because the car some times would take a while kind like a delay to start im not sure if you are experiencing something like this, and then after that i ended up replacing all my 02 sensors because it trowing some codes, after all that done the cars runs nice now!
Justin the dealer still has the car, they want to do a compression test and check the valve springs before i get the car back. densr4 suggested the hpfp, and many other people has as well, I asked the dealer to confirm its working fine, but they only confirm via what the read outs are on the screen, the car does take about 2-3 secs to start, i thought it was normal since it starts the same before the codes started, and of course the dealer only has used hpfp for bank 1 to test with not bank 2. Anyways guys I get the car back early next week, Im sure not repaired, so I can update you all later. I plan to switch all coils/injectors/plugs again next week to again rule out any of those options. after that it only can be the hpfp!!!
Update, so almost 2 k later, dealer is stumped, they can not find out the problem with my bank 2 misfires, man I really need some help on this one, to recap here is all what was tested, cats, o2 test, plugs, coils, switched ecm and software, check for ele shorts, fuel pressures , tested and tried another used hpfp, compression tested (all higher on bank 2 side), vacuum leaks, valve springs, full timing and ect checked, I don’t believe I missed anything bottom line, dealer said short of taking the motor out to check for hydraulic lock they have no ideas, they checked everything and switched from bank 1 to bank2 what they could, its always cyl 5 first the the rest of bank 2 shortly after. car runs fine until warmed up and misfires seem to start at idle or driving easy, otherwise feels great. again all I did was put new injectors after the de carb and thats it, I should add the injectors were also switched with bank 1, no change. If anyone had any similar issues please let me know. Im at a loss:( compression as follows from cly 1-8, 160/161/164/163/175/175/185/175)
How about the fuel pump. Did they check that and from what your saying it sounds like it could be pcv related. Does the dealer still have the car.
