B8.5 headlight light bulbs

Have an RS5 B8.5 .

It was raining heavily today and the xenon outright stopped working and I got a warning on the dash. Last time I had a headlamp changed it was flashing or dimming a bit but did not show a message; that might have been on the other as well though.

Is it correct to use the osram D3S XENARC 35W as replace, for a euro spec car?

Can you go with lol something less bright and expensive  . Is it the same procedure as on the B8 or did any of you change it.

Could not find an existing thread on this, which is odd.

For the record, the vcds error code:

00979 - Lamp for Low Beam; Right (M31)
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit

I found it to be the above bulb with 42 Volts.

From over on Audizine if you want to replace both. Otherwise Phillips / Osram is the correct bulb for stock.

Yes, found the spec in the factory service manual. For the passenger side at least, actually a lot easier on the RS5 than A4/A5. Just need to detach the clips on the coolant container.
