Here are the time slips any ideas…!!! First time at drags with the S4

are you in New Zealand? Chile?

as for ‘any idea’, regarding what? What was your exact modlist last night, and what octane fuel/what tune were you running?

Give us a bunch of information. WIthout context it’s hard to say. IF you were stock, those are excellent times. But you’re not. But we don’t know if you’re stage 1, stage 2, stage 3 beta, twin charged with ETG etc.

So a little context and conditions goes a long way.

If you’re stage 2, with an intake (per your sig) you’re not exactly getting the most out of the car. Could be conditions, could be other things. Is it a manual? The ETs are kind of wide range of disparity for a DSG.

p.s. +karma for hitting the strip to evaluate your car, and for posting the times.

(ETG closed it’s doors incidentally…not sure anyone knew that)

Interesting. Guess no twin turbo B8 S4!

But we are all just haters that don’t give the guys trying something “different” a chance.

I know it’s been forever since I posted this sorry lost the post and myself with work etc. Saki, the car is dsg with stage 2 apr and at the time it had eurocode intake. Launch control was acting up and DA’s were fairly high anywhere from 1900 per dragtimes to 2400 my calculations using the weather in the area and a formula I found forget the name I can look it up. As you mentioned in another post te shifts and fact I don’t have a CPS or such could have been hurting me. I also felt that the car was falling on it’s face. The supercharger and intake were sizzling couldn’t put my hand on them without burning myself which I almost did…

Posting all the slips actually helps. You can see the car was extremely heat soaked. The day started with 2 fast runs and then started to struggle after that. The times got slower the one run with the bad 60 foot that makes sense the car did something wrong at the start. Nothing hurts the supercharged cars more then heat. I think a lot of guys get to the track and let the car cool down and ice down the blower to help reduce the heats impact on performance.

2000 to 2400 feet would rob you of about 20-30 whp. That’s about 2-3 tenths and 2-3 MPH

So your best of 12.8@106 would turn into a 12.5 @ 109 at best. not great for your modlist. I’d expect to see you at around 12.25-12.45 @ 112-113.

I think the short shifting is another culprit. The times are all over the map, which we usually don’t see from a DSG. Perhaps the DSG owners on the board can pop in, but I reckon it’s best to just pop it in S mode and leave it. You should try again next month when ATCO opens. Great DA and always a few B8 S4 guys keen to get to the strip. You guys can make it a mini-meet and battle it out.

Thanks justin, actually bonehead move on my part forgot ice and especially last run held LC too long. Car just lurched at line and rpm’s dropped took forever to takeoff, seemed to almost bog. Also have been practicing the launch that all of the more experienced guys have been instructing us noobs to use without LC and car has been operating better. We’ll see what it’s running in the spring. I bet it’ll definitely be quicker especially with some driver mods…hehe.

Sami your so on point. As I posted earlier responding to justin… I also did changed the intake two weeks ago and wrapped it of which I have to redo the a little wanted completely perfect “the wrap that is” and did some runs at our local after hours strip with an old Gtech for comparison. I don’t think the thing is super accurate but I recorded consistent 12.30, 12.24, 12.25 ranging from 116-119 mph DA’s were in the -1000 range. Car spun a little but definitely pulled like a freight train… So we’ll see with real timing lights at the track… The G thing results give a faster mph because it measures from the start of the run and final velocity is not like the tracks last 60ft average but times should be within 1/10th. “I so hope…!” Hehe. Will be purchasing a Vag in the future to examine the cars parameters in detail, just trying to decide between the cable and unlimited vin# version or Hex-Net version. Also, decided on eurocode bars and links so I have to budget myself, other prioritys first…:flushed:. Any suggestions appreciated.

Saki thanks for the suggestion to hit Atco that’s a great idea. I will try to get over there if my schedule allows me to. Also, as you commented many times the DSG short shifting with B8.5 1st-2nd shift comes in at 5800-5900 normally after I installed the roc-euro it seems on occasion if say 40-60 ratio, guessing, I see 1-2 shifts at 6100-6200…??? What gives…?

That makes sense that you had a stock intake those times make sense. The B8 cars really seem to need a great intake to work well. The shifting cam just be the load is different across the maf so the shifts are slightly delayed

Actually, I had the stock box with eurocode tube and AFE pro s filter when I visited the track last August. The Roc-euro is def getting better 0-60 times, beat my best by a couple of tenths…
