b8 s4 best s4 ever..predictions and limits

If your keeping track the b8 s4 is possibility the best s4 in the past 14 years. From the looks of it the b8 s4 is the quickest to the 11 second mark and was able to so it with the least amount of mods.

So far even the b8 s4 owners are mostly a big win. Laughing out some of the washed up con shops amd theves from the now failing b5 market. They laughed out jfonz tuning quickly noteing the failboat attempts to put bs out there using cheep b5 kids as testiomionals and even when the old ASP company tried to come out after mamy years of failing customers the b8 members again shelfed that potential bad stage of events. Most recently the b5 dyno sales team of epl got a fist full of b8 owners now willing to be wowed over a dyno sheet.

We have the kings in APR and AWE… who funny enough made the b5 market 14 years ago before leaving once the owners became 18 year old know nothings.

We have the apr stage 3 and from the sounds of it awe isn’t going to bow out with jist a stage 2… thoughs are that they have something in the works for a stage 3…

Ths questions I want to put out there are just for fun… members called the mod list needed to get these kimgs of the S into the 11s now whst happens…

Have we seen any motor failures yet…what power level do we think these motors can hold…what power levels do we think these dsg transmissions can hold…how fast do we think the first versions of the stage 3 will be…how long till we see the first b8 in the 10s…how long before the first stage 3 b8 hits the track and has the bugs worked out…will the mighty b8 s4 beat the rs4 to the brass ring…

Jist felt like playing reporter and getting ideas on what the b8 guys think is in the future…so far the b8 guys seem to really have there stuff together… I would like to add that lots of the required facts and the shift in proveing a product works got started with the b6/b7 s4 when we started demanding more then bullshit b5 logs and dyno sheets…the movement started with imo us amd seems to be holding and proving strong with the b8 guys…

What I find funny is that Audi built such an easily modable engine and are trying their hardest to keep people from modding their cars. I know the reason they used a supercharger is most likely fuel economy. But still they must have seen this coming.

Its probably a conspiracy, they use turbos and superchargers on almost every single model if not every single model they make and they have this whole TD1 Fiasco going on. It seems like a really really smart way to void a bunch of warranties and not have to pay for a shit ton of non modification related and induced problems.
Freaking genius.

Definitely agree with this. When the platform was new, there were some forum members complaining about the b6/7 guys “trolling” the b8 threads (e.g., Dr Vokl). In reality, you guys were just sharing helpful information with us based on your own experiences. Fortunately, a lot of the B8 crowd caught on, and we now understand the importance of track results (as opposed to worthless dyno charts).

With respect to predictions, I’d say low 11s with APR stage 3 - with race gas, and all other common mods. Don’t think we’ll see 10s, but I hope to be wrong on that.

Good thread. I was thinking of starting a similar one a few weeks ago.

This will be a fun thread…

Motor failures? yes, I have seen a few revo motor failures, no others… I’m sure there out there…

Power level? That’s a tough one but I think will see quite a bit safely… 450-550WHP(not paperish #'s either)…

DSG power levels? More than above with a tune… APR needs to step up here… GIAC is taking advantage of this with pure marketing at this point… Austin says it’s so much better and 1fast says he wants the uncorrected 1/4 mile record… since when does he have the corrected one? No doubt it’s better but they haven’t put up #'s yet to support that… 1.622 60’s… 11.69 ET 119+ traps… With that said if there wasn’t a blower from APR coming… I would consider GIAC for the DSG tune alone…

Stage III? APR stage III will run 11.2 - 11.4 on race gas in good DA IMO… 123+ traps, again in good DA… 10’s will happen a few years out… maybe the nitrous dude, if he ever hits the strip… Depending on when I get the kit will see how fast we install… My brother wants to make spacers even if I plug the ports in the short term… If it’s late in the drag season it goes on ASAP so I can make some passes…

Hitting the strip? Sooner than you think… right Arin ;D I’ll go the Wed./Fri./Sat./Sun. after the blower is installed… Slips and vids will be posted no matter what I run…

RS4? We may beat the current times but, no I don’t think we will beat their times in the end but I plan to try… The RS5 is what I am really excited to see with the blower… It will be better than the RS4 because of the DSG alone… Oh my TTRS will be faster than both!

I think we would need nitrous for 10’s but time will only tell.

This. I can’t wait to see how the RS5 performs with the blower.

The b8 will truly have arrived once SSAutoClone starts making ghetto ass rusty parts that don’t fit.

It will be fun to see how the bigger blower does but I am not betting on 10s with it. I figured if it were able to efficiently max out the 1900 it would have been tough to go 10s

Hater! You said something will be faster than my car!!! Waaaaah!

Just making you feel at home, az/aw b8 forum style

Yeah dsg on a b8 will be interesting. To be honest I think the 6mt guys are not really stepping up to the plate still so I hold out hope someone e will match your and bear with a manual b8. It must be said that the fastest stock b8 is a manual.

Dsg makes it easy to go fast but after weight and drive train loss, I reckon a REALLY awesome driver will be able to match dsg.

With the rs4 I think people will be shocked at what it actually runs once jhm gets a good launch down. People seem to be forgetting that we have only seen 1.79-1.85 60’ times…a day they still went 11.34. Once jay or Dan lays down a 1.65 in that car and nails the shifts in good da (they ran in mediocre da) people will be pretty shocked.

Then when they add more fuel with stage 2+…yikes.

Prediction…apr rs5 1650 wont touch jhm rs4 . And JHM will do it on a 91 tune. No offense to anyone who owns an rs5 or loves Apr… But feel free to cry and call me a hater

You mean 1740? Hater! ;D

So what’s the weight difference between RS4/5? Jhm should get into the B8 world.

Haha sorry 1740

Difference? Rs5 has a new engine, less doors, more rpms, less flares, dsg.

Jhm should indeed. Can’t forget they make:

B8 shifter
B8 rotors
B8 clutch
B8 lightweight flywheel

Saki, If anyone Pete will probably be the guy to challenge records with the 6-speed but w/o an upgraded blower he won’t stand a chance… I could see him going 11.6-11.7 with all the bolt ons and stock blower…

I have little doubt a manual could be faster(stock software DSG) with the right driver but most people won’t abuse the car/clutch to get the results… But hey what do I know? It’s not like I have a 6speed S4… Oh that’s right I did OK in my stock TTRS drag racing and it’s a 6-speed… LOL Give me a modded stick S4 for a week and 3 passes and I bet I could cut a 1.6x 60… No offense to Pete but I am 100% sure I could do better than a high 1.7 60… Not claiming to be that “really awesome” driver that you describe but again I think I would do OK…

The JHM #'s are awesome no doubt… Looking forward to some actual customer times not company times… Not trying to refute them by any means but I’ll be more impressed when it’s not the guys selling the parts running the number… Who knows in the end I may just test that 1.74L APR RS5 theroy myself ;D LOL!

Yeah only problem is he sold his b8 and will now be battling his b8.5 growing pains. Hopefully he gets it rocking soon

I know at this point you guys have the impression that I am a liar, bullshitter, whatever…
The fact is I have the fastest time and trap speed with the stock pulley/blower(revo 100oct) and 6MT.
Now that I have the APR stage 2+ w/pulley (Thx Ron), I simply cannot fucking wait till this fall, when the da’s are decent and will give it all i got to break Pete’s record
Of course by that time, either APR STAGE 3 will be out and in the low 11s imho and also the GIAC DSG STG2 w/pulley cars should be also in the mid 11s, so I guess it really won’t be that exciting or matter to many (except me)…That is until I break into 10s with my custom, holy shit ballz, nitrous set up.

All that said, it is amazing to see these daily driver, with simple bolt-ons, weighing over 4200lbs, in the low 12s, and not even track prepped… . . I am really excited for this fall/winter season track times and would love to see more effort into the B8 S4 from JHM…

Asshole

You will go 10s on the 1320?

I’m hoping to have the Eurocode Clutch Kit and HFC in the car by November. I think with a better launch I could get the car into the 11.6 range for sure.

How is the fact that you have the fastest stock pulley time ever? What is that time?

El Romano has the 2nd fastest stock pulley time that I am aware of…

1fast went 12.062
El Romano went 12.064
I went 12.069

El Romano did have the highest trap speed but worst 60ft time…

So it’s not fact I guess…good to clarify. Facts are pretty straightforward usually lol.

Romano - can you fill us in on the details of your nitrous setup? You’d be the first, I think, to run nitrous. There was some guy on AZ a while back who was interested, but I don’t think he went through with it.

there’s a guy in California who uses nitrous, and according to paperish@EuroCode:

  1. he has never gone to the strip
  2. he has never raced another car on video
  3. he has never used a pbox
  4. he has never done a timed log
  5. he has never done a timed acceleration video showing the speedo

Seems like if I paid a bunch of money to be a guinea pig for a shop to develop a nitrous delivery solution, I’d like to know if it works, and I’d want to share it with people.
