B8 S4 headers bank or bust?

Really? I thought the list of 1/4 mile times had the fastest 6MT at around a 12.4.

Edit: that time isn’t on either AZ or AR’s list. Is there a timeslip and/or vid of that pass? If accurate, that’s the fastest B8 S4 manual by far.

i dont mind being challenged im in it for the knowledge too haha. i gotta dig it up but yea theres a dyno sheet of mine floating around and it was about 20hp over a similarly modded car that dynoed same day right after my pulls.
correct me if im wrong but arent the jhm cars pulling 45hp in after a proper calibration for the headers? if so that may be the difference here, no1 is tuning for cat deletes other than just killing the light on the dash

I see where your coming from. I know there arnt any official quarter mile times with 2 cars at the same track on the same day. But the fastest Manual B8 S4 time was run by Eurocode on Version 1 software. But if I were to go to the track with my car it wouldnt prove anything about the headers. If I ran a great time you guys would say their are other variables and the same reason my car made so much power on the dyno is the same reason I ran those times. If I run a shitty time everyone will say the headers were the cause and wouldnt account for the fact that Ive never been to the dragstrip. Even though dynoes can be manipulated and they all vary from each other its still a more consistent way of measuring the power for a manual car like mine than my passes at a track. In my opinion a side by side race from a roll between 2 cars over and over again is the best way to gauge a mod for a particular car. You guys might disagree but that takes the least amount of skill.

It was at Fontana on a hot day on a slightly uphill track.

^^ Cool. Not sure why we didn’t know about that pass. For the record, though, EC was not running with just headers and APR Stage I software. Rather:

Engine: 3.0-liter V6 with APR stage 2+ software, smaller supercharger pulley, upgraded coolant pump, coolant separation reservoir, Eurocode long-tube headers, supplemental supercharger after-cooler, Neuspeed exhaust

  1. nobody said headers won’t make a car faster (than stock). So why do you keep ranting and trying to convince everyone of that? We know they add a gain over stock. Primetime just thinks it’s overstated and lauded for really adding just about zero over far simpler and more cost effective solutions.

  2. primetime has 034 high flow cats, not test pipes. He also has an APR tune, not a GIAC tune. The 034 cats work pretty well on his car (and fonzie and 81bear) and their APR tunes.

What is the hate? The only thing people on this site hate is bad products, poor marketing and bullshitters. Well, the core members. Some people have come along and dilluted that a bit.

They also ditched the Neuspeed exhaust for a dump tube or ‘torque tube’ as the article called it.

I think putting tye dyno sheet would help shlw more of paper proof. If yiu have it cool post it…

As for jhm…I dont know the car was on 91oct and I think he already had the tune for the base line test so 8t potentially added even more then that over stock

Paper, exactly… They ran 12.13 @ 113.97 yet choose to post the 12.51 @ 120.84 pass… Why? I’ll tell you why, because it looked better for them to post the highest mph ever in the 1/4 for a b8 s4 and blame the track for the slow ET… That was the way to validate the headers… Unfortunately, the other ETs and traps were posted and none of them beat my 12.0 @ 116.82 with stock cats… Now how does that make the headers look? That’s a rhetorical ?, by the way…

Oh, there was another company faced with deciding to post a best ET time or trap, circumstances were different, but they went for ET… We all know what thy choose…

Their definitely is hate there. Since the headers have not proven to be a bad product like the 034 cats have, since they have shown increases in power on multiple dynos, since they have shown increases in speed in multiple street race videos, since anytime anyone mentions it you guys jump all over the headers saying there arnt any gains, since primetime said it is damn near criminal how Eurocode and their customers push these headers, and you compliment him on saying that. That is straight hate, primetime doesnt have these headers, you dont have these headers, you dont have the car these headers are made for. You have never been in or raced against a car with these headers, you talk shit about them every chance you get. That sir is hating on a product plain and simple.

Again like I said earlier, your times dont mean anything in this situation, you go to a different track, different conditions, different transmission. They have the fastest time of any manual B8 S4 in the world that we know of, and they have the highest trap speed of any B8 S4 on Earth. They also had an old version of the APR software, didnt have a 104 or 110 octane tune, and ran at a shitty track on a hot day. I think that is major proof that the headers really help these cars out. All that against them and they still broke 2 B8 S4 records that people still cant beat in 2013. stop the hate accept the truth. All I’m saying.

Paper, your right I don’t have them but I raced a car with nearly identical mods, same day, same track, same time, etc. I ran faster times even though he was 250 300 lighter… Do you not get that? How is that hate? That’s about as good as you’ll get…

As for my times not being comparable to ec’s that’s not true… That’s why the da is important… Yep they have the best mph, congrats to them and their pro driver… I have only trapped mid 119’s but that was running a slightly better 11.7x to their 12.5 lol. Heck I ran a better ET then their 12.13 with v1 apr tune, catback, and intake and out trapped them by 3mph… Their 120 was/is a fluke that they wouldn’t get today if they went… Lets be real… I know I know there are no tracks in your area…

Imola’s times that day must have been a fluke too then? Like I said you ran better times at a better track. There are variables all over the place which makes it had to compare. I have a feeling we are going to see a lot of B8 S4’s with headers hitting the track this year. A lot of people have headers now, and when I make my way up to the track I will take multiple friends that have headers on their B8/B8.5’s.

Paper, really? The fluke is a 120 trap one time and then multiple 113/4s on the same day… There were no other s4s to compare with… imolas car ran multiple 11.8/9 passes and I ran slightly better but close enough to say even… Yet he was 200 300 lighter and had no cats unlike me… If you can’t see our results showing more than I think I’ll just quit addressing you on this as you are biased… I know you think I hate ec for some reason but that’s really not the case… Just like to deal in real results not vendor ones that are used for sales…

You don’t seem to understand.

The headers add fuck all over 034 hfcs, but are five times the cost. Is that simple enough?

This was the summary I was looking for.

I honestly don’t think the headers do anything more than the Testpipes. I had big gains 100-130 with the Testpipes and on my most recent logs I’m making a lot of power from the Testpipes.

Testpipes- $450 shipped
Headers- $2800 shipped

Performance difference in minimal if any difference at all.

Speaking of logs. My car is all sorted out. Let’s do this

Come through Monday night. Lets do pump vs. pump vbox times.

done, bring the grilled cheese
