B8 S4 headers bank or bust?

How do you know? Maybe he curled up in the corner and masturbated in his own tears until he decided to get rid of his car.

tears make great lube…

you just described a full part out, so I guess you agree?

lube…interesting. Something the EuroCode headers should come with, if we believe the acceleration data we have

do i need to bring the panda out again…

sure if you want. You going to start smashing stuff?

Are we sure it was Imolamonster? I know a few had him confused with someone else? I sent him a PM on AW so will see what he says… I’m with Saki though it’s either a full part out or nothing… I do know he bought a older Porsche and was looking to buy a newer one as well… Last time I spoke to him he was very anxious to go to the track with me… Will see I guess…

He traded in the S4 for an S5; said he wanted something sportier. I PMd him about his headers and Milltek a few weeks ago when he put the headers up for sale. He got the headers back but left the Milltek on the car. Not sure why he didn’t keep the headers and put them on the S5.

Back to lurking mow… :stuck_out_tongue:

Interesting… I’ll see what he says when I talk to him… I assume he will mod this one as well… He had just gotten the CPS and LW rotors, wonder if he had them taken off? Hopefully, it’s DSG so I can use it do design paddles for the 13+ cars…

thanks for the info.

headers probably wouldn’t remotely fit an S5 3.0T

Oh and welcome to the forum DATZ… Good to see you over here…

they fit the entire 3.0 line, i believe greg just mounted them to his s5

With the upgraded power, I can get up to 120 mph in 4th. Before I was 113/114mph in stock mode.

MY13’s will require more power to get down the strip faster.

The argument for eurocode headers may be even stronger for B8.5’s over the B8’s because of the gearing/shorter redline.

One interesting thing I found is that Sport mode gave me 100 more RPMs at redline in 3rd (versus manual mode).

really? Engine bay space would be drastically different from platform to platform I would assume. i.e. the 3.0T A6 or Q7 or A8 or A6 or S5 wouldn’t have too much in common you’d think.

In any event with the considerable cost of the headers, and the considerable cost to install them, I reckon you will see him being a good proxy for whether or not they ‘make sense’ since he knows what they do vs stock and vs other catalytic converter mods now. He has the luxury of evaluating from an impartial and educated position whether he wants to spend $1000 or more on labour to get them on his new car, vs selling them for the considerable value he would receive.

Really? Not sure how you are going faster in any gear w/o changing redline or gears themselves… I know you get there faster but the ratios haven’t changed… I watched your video and the car seemed to short shift pretty much everytime… Granted most of that was driving around… If you leave the car in auto and hammer it will it redline shift every gear? The problem with the new gearing is while you can hold 4th through the traps the shift time saved is negated because you are dropping to a lower RPM and not in the best part of your powerband after each shift… I can get to 117-118 in 4th and could go with a different tire to improve that but the shifts are so fast I’ll wait for a TCU tune, which I am hoping is coming soon…

He is a different customer than most, trust me… Great young guy but lets just say he is not making decisions based on the opportunity cost of the money and I don’t think he has too much to worry about money issues…

My point was that I was short shifting at 113/114, WOT, in stock mode.

After the tune I could get to 120 before the shift (ala getting there faster). Obviously I could have held 4th longer at redline to get up to 120 in stock form…

I thought with the different gearing, the powerband has shifted downwards (so to speak). So even though 13’s have a lower RPM shift point, we are making similar power.

This was kinda proven on the dyno with my car versus the '12 B8 APR S2 car. He went to 69XX but we were making similar power at redline.

that would only be possible if you changed your tire/wheel diameter drastically

Gotcha… I haven’t seen enough data on the new cars to be honest with you on where to shift, but with tune my guess would be redline… On the 10-12’s with a tune you want to shift at redline… This is where the manual cars have an advantage since they can rev to 7200 vs 7000… I won’t comment on the dyno scenario ;D Tell Neal to go to the track with you and will see how the runs turn out and then we can compare…
