3.0T on carpart apparently

so you can get the B8 S4 engine for $4000?

clint has a lead on one, ask him for more details

that’s a steal!

[low-blow]post a link for the REVO B8 guys [/low-blow]

Shit… I’ll take 2

They’re on Car-Part.com I don’t have any secret source or anything

not that i’m interested in swapping motors especially to a turbo, (i want boost at all RPMS) but i’m curious do you have to swap transmissons as well to do the 3.0T swap? or does it work with 01E?

Dude, here we go again, the 3.0T in the S4 is supercharged…not “turbo.” So you do get boost across all RPMs without any form of lag. It is a twin screw top mounted supercharger. You posted the picture and it’s specs, it’s the big thing in the picture that replaces a normal N/A intake manifold.

Just save up for, or wait 5 years and buy a B8 S4.

I thought he was talking about the 3.0T thats in the new A4’s or A6 I dunno, i dont follow cars I dont drive.

I’m just a bit confused cuz I know i’ve seen a new audi that was NOT a S4 and it had a 3.0T Badge so I assumed it was turbo and not running the same motor as S4 cuz it wasn’t a S4.

And just a sugguestion dude, learn to talk with some respect. Not everyone spends every waking moment learning everything about Cars. People come to the forums to learn about cars not argue about stupid ass shit. Grow up.

yeah it is bizarre how they used a “T” when it is supercharged, but I guess people might get confused if it was 3.0S

lol…ok man, the S4 A6 A7 Q7 all come with a 3.0T(supercharged), they may have other options except the S4. The 2.0T is definitely turbocharged, that comes in A3s A4s A5s . I agree that people come to the forum to learn about their cars, and post issues, and read about what previous people have done, or the lessons they have learned. I am not trying to argue, I wondered where you got your turbo comment from, you started the thread about the 3.0T in the S4, so why assume someone started talking about another 3.0T with a turbocharger?..and why are you so concerned with swaps if you don’t care (or have the time to learn) about the different Audi platforms?

We can just agree to disagree, I personally would educate myself by way of the internet, rather than ask questions that are not hard to find answers to.

3.0T is indeed a turbo option for the Euro A4/A5 among others and even the Q7 here (3.0 TDI that is ;))

First off i made the thread because i was looking for forged internals and came across the motor and was curious about it. That question was answered.

Second i asked if the motor that clint was talking about would mate to B6 transmissions. And that question was still unanswered… instead you chose to do the same thing people do on AZ which is instead of answering the question simply you respond with a rude and disrespectful comment…my confusion about the motor being turbo or not was irrelevant and my problem is that this is AR not AZ and thats why i come to this forum, to have questions answered not rudely commented on.

I know I’m condescending…

But I have been providing you with factual information.

The question you asked about the new S4 engine mating up to the 01E transmission is not a short answer. Even if it mated up to the 01E perfectly, which I think would be a long shot (I think the new 6spd S4 has a KMR transmission), you would need to fabricate motor mounts and figure out how to make it run. This is not an easy task IMO, you would need to wire the new engine harness and ECU into your chassis electrical system. Then you ned to figure out how to program everything.

Check out this swap…it’s pretty damn cool, and I know it’s an LS1 into an Audi, but an Audi engine into an Audi could probably end up just as complicated and time consuming.

LSx into an Audi would be cool. Nobody complains abotu 500-600 hp/400-500 tq that GM’s engines produce all motor. I think it’s the seats and door handles and stereo that people love to bitch about but the motors are fucking stout.

The motors are indeed pretty amazing, the best part is the compatibility between all of the LS series engines. Who can beat a single cam, 16V V8 that you can build in your garage with a pretty basic set of tools and make 600hp NA. I secretly hate my friends with LS1s since the availability of parts is ridiculous. Take an LS1, throw an LS6 IM, cam, and some long tubes on it and get 80 to 100hp!! and those parts can be bought off a vette owner who upgraded for less than $500.

I have a dream of having an LSx S4 in the future, but I would love to keep the AWD like Project Judas. The fact that the engine is already pushed so far forward, and the LS block is a few inches longer worries me of many headaches. I think realistically if I did pursue this dream, the S4 would be converted to a RWD setup, probably an independent rear out of a G8 or something. I’ll stick with the supercharger plan for now…lol

So how close is that RS6/LS car to being up and running? The thread is 25+ pages long = TLDR. Funny enough, a year ago when he started the thread, I read his OP and thought ‘that’ll be neat’ but forgot about it. When I saw the pig picture it reminded me. Here we are a year later lol.

He has videos of it running, and he says it’s registered. I am disappointed in the fact that he doesn’t have more videos or pics that show a 100% complete car. Track times would be amazing too. I know Beemercer posted throughout his thread, so maybe he could chime in with some extra info.

Yes it bolts up and yes the mounts are OEM. The wiring is the real fun because Bentley has not released wiring diagrams for the engine yet. If you had a crashed one you could probably do a decent job of guess and check but a spare harness would be nice.
