This motor looks awfully familar… Seems to me like there might be peroformance parts to be had off this. Unfortunatly even if that is the case everything would have to be bought new I’m guessing. Heres some facts from where i pulled these pics from.
Facts about the Audi 3.0 TFSI Supercharged engine
3.0L supercharged DOHC 90° DI V-6
Displacement (cc): 2,995
Block/head material: aluminum/aluminum
Bore x stroke (mm): 84.5 x 89
Horsepower (SAE net): 333 @ 5,500-7,000 rpm
Torque: 325 lb.-ft. ( Nm) @ 2,900-5,300 rpm
Specific output: 111 hp/L
Compression ratio: 10.3:1
Assembly site: Györ, Hungary
Application tested: 2010 Audi S4
EPA city/highway (mpg): 18/27 (manual )

I’m curious about the internals in this motor, perhaps are they forged?, i wonder what type of SC they are using.

Is this post serious? Or sarcastic?

Well you might want to head over the B8 section for more info on the motor, the sc is a TVS(with some numbers here) its the one below a 1320 I believe. I’m not sure how well it would fit either, also it would be easier and cheaper to get a set of aftermarket rods and pistons then buy the OE ones. Iirc I got quoted just over a grand for a stock 3.0 rod by a dealer.

Lol… wut.

Also this is from the 3.0 FAQ

Bore 3.25 in. 82.5 mm
Stroke 3.65 in. 92.8 mm
Displacement 182 cu. in. 2976 cc
Compression ratio 10.1 : 1

yes I seriously want a S4 and seriously want to know more about this motor.

I just think its sick that the new S4 is a 3.0 liter and not V8. V8 is too much for me. I’m glad they went with a SC V6. I was just curious how similar this motor is to ours?

its going to be a lot of different, maybe an option for 3.2 guys to swap parts but the 3.0 is a few generations older tech

thanks beamer I was just curious, I dont have time like a lot of you to know everything about all platforms. I can barely keep up with my own car.

changed the title of thread since it obviously confused some people…

You just seem incredibly surprised like this engine just came out…? Audi has been putting this engine in cars since 2010, possibly even earlier overseas.

The title isn’t any better…sorry

Being a college student I dont take the time to check out 60,000$ cars I am nowhere near being able to afford. Sorry you don’t like the title.

Is this real life

Is this just fantasy?

not really sure what thats supposed to mean.

Sorry, I didn’t realise what thread I was in - thought it was the lulz thread. I was just doing this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJ9rUzIMcZQ&ob=av3e (opening to Bohemian Rhapsody… carry on)

this is basically the lulz thread bango

I thought your reply was clever

I apologize I wasn’t clear when I first posted about what information i was seeking, . I have been cramming for math test tommorow and I’m a bit overloaded and heavily medicated due to some recent injuries so my brain is a bit under the weather. Just to make things clear I was only posting about the S4 was because I am trying to find forged internals for my motor and I was curious if this car would have some that would match up. Anyways, enough with the BS.

END THREAD.

its ok dude…its just funny

shows you have a life and we don’t lol

not many oem parts will be hot swappable…especially rods/pistons

why the need for forged?

Its cool, I’m usually really easy going but this math class is killing me! lol

I’ve been thinking I really want to see my car go SC. And I figure if I do that I might as well do it properly and build the motor becuase I was guessing the stock internals probably can’t take much boost and whats the point of going through all that work and $ to drive around with a low boost SC that you can’t ever smash on cuz your scared to throw a rod or something. So I’m trying to figure about how much it will cost to put together what I would need and labor to build the motor. I figured basically after BBK and coilovers my car would be be ready for some serious Go mods. I already emailed JHM and asked them if they could put something together or had any information but they haven’t got back to me yet. Right now I’m just trying to come up with a plan of what I can realistically do, What are your thoughts or suggestions?

I have been thinking about this too, this is what I have figured.

The 2.7 seems to be able to hit 450WHP safely on stock internals and so does the 4.2, so it might be feasible as the SC kit shouldn’t introduce a massive torque spike hurting the rods.

Looking at getting forged internals I have been thinking about the stuff AMD use for their stroker kit (yes I know they don’t go to strip, but they have build some pretty serious motors regardless).

I think i mentioned this before but with the IE stroker stuff and beemcer mentioned that might not work for several reasons, hopefully he can chime in. So in the end we might have to get custom set of rods and pistons done, like JHM is doing with the 4.2

pistons wont work well, you have iron bores the new 3.0 has alusil

if you arent bringing the pistons over I wouldnt count on the rods working either

I’d look to the aftermarket for a better option, the 3.0T motors go for $4k+ used torn out of a junker. Rods/pistons/machine work should be similar to that if you can use 2.7 centric stuff
