Baseline runs - results.

As I previously posted, I hit Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove WI today to get some baseline runs for my '13 S6.

Hardly anyone there when I arrived, so got as many runs in as I wanted to between about 11 and 12:30.
Conditions were great, with DA calculating to about -277 feet.

Car is bone stock, nothing removed for weight savings. 1/8 tank of 93 octane. Best run shown below:

Track conditions were typical GLD - Launch control caused too much wheelspin, so this result is from the “mash and go” technique. Results are right in line with magazine tests, so about what I expected. Car was very consistent - no evidence of any heat soak, despite several back-to-back runs. Thank you, good conditions! (solo run, so R/T meant nothing. My best 2 R/Ts were .250 and .288)

Now the question is whether to mod or not. Car is CPO, and my DD, so part of me wants to keep the warranty. The other part of me is affected by the red mist, and says DO IT!

Decisions, decisions…

A 12.2 @ 113 car is plenty fast enough to crush almost anything you ever face out there. I’m sure the 450 hp or so isn’t feeling slow.

I’d keep it stock for a while and just enjoy it. The only real ‘competition’ your car will ever face will be on the internet.

Solid runs. Makes sense to keep stock, then down the road you can add a tune and rs7 turbos for an exorbitant amount of money

How’s the transmission behaving? I remember reading some complaints on audizoo

I second this, but really, it depends - do you want more?

Timeslips are one thing, but if you want more oomph than that 113 mph trap indicates…do it if you can afford it…and have a second car.

I went a couple weeks ago and did an 11.9@118 with my '13 C63, and I should be satisfied…but somehow I feel like I still want more pull on the highway, at least once a day I think about this…

Thanks.

No issues with the transmission.

The RS7 turbos/tune route may sound expensive initially, but considering the price delta to get into an ACTUAL RS7, that route gets a big performance increase for something like 15% of that number. The big question at that point would indeed be the transmission, since that would put the car WAY over the trans’ rated torque capacity…

I know what you mean, and me too. Doesn’t help that the boss recently tuned HIS '13 S6, and that I’ve driven it…

FWIW, there was a C63 AMG there yesterday running 11.0s @ 131. Nitrous!!

For me in the stock '16 S6 it is also the need/want for the extra pull when already in motion, not so much from dead stop, that makes me want to tune asap.
Just yesterday I was behind a W221 S63 AMG and he took off from about 30 km/h and I floored it right behind him and I was inching up closer to him to triple km/h digits. I was surprised he didn’t run away so I should be satisfied as well, but I also wanted to go faster and overtake him.
We know “enough” power is very relative depending on who you ask.
