I was driving home today and while in second gear I gave the car the beans and the battery light came on briefly then went out. Scanned the car and there are no codes and no other symptoms. The belt was done about 25 k kms ago. This was the one and only time this has occurred. Any thoughts?
test your battery and alternator
see what voltage you have bat + to ground and alt + to ground and report back
could be belt slip. the tensioner could be the issue
Happened again today, pulling in 2nd. Pointing out my obvious ignoramus status here, but how would one test the a above?
Edit: technically the light that flashed (very briefly) each time was the red battery looking light which, according to the manual, is the alternator light. I’m betting slipping belt? The belt’s not old but the tensioner was never done.
…sounds like you’ve pretty much answered your own question. I’d go ahead and order a new belt and tensioner. It sounds like it’s not a fix it now kind of issue since it only sems to be second gear, but I’d go ahead and get the parts on order so you have them ready when you have a free weekend that you feel like pulling the bumper odd
do you have a multimeter?

could be many things in that whole system, belt system, alternator, battery, wiring… I had a similar issue and it ended up being the alternator bearing welded itself still
Mine does it occasionally too in the upper RPM’s of any gear. Only once every 15 or so pulls triggers the light. I did my belt/tensioner/idler/lwcp 10k ago so I think it’s my alternator bearing putting up a fight
Hey. Fun fact - it WAS the alternator after all!! I figured this out tonight when the car died a km from my house. Ffffuuuccckkk.
So I win? If your car is an '04 with the Delphi alternator you should get the JHM 05+ Hitachi kit.
