BBS wheels thread

i did no such down voting (for the record)

Regarding “fender challenged”, i can fit 9.5 wide wheels under my car with 45 offset and 15mm spacers and not have an issue (out front anyway. havent tried rear). So that’s 30 offset 9.5 wide that can fit under there. For most any track prepped car, we’ll have space to fit these

My 255 Cup2 tire might be causing the rear bumper cover edge to peel back. Kind of annoying if that’s the cause and not some other careless person or car wash tugging on it.

How much negative camber and what size tires? Typically rubbing will start around the upper ET30’s offset on a 9.5" wheel and 255 tires (assuming standard alignment settings and ride height). It would take some combination of negative camber, stretched tires, or fender work to go much lower. I get some minor rubbing with an ET40, Michelin PSS tires, and any camber setting below -1.5 degrees.

Is it confirmed that the FI-R is going to come in a 5x112 fitment for our cars? Last I saw was only BMW and Porsche fitments for at least a while, and by looking at the wheel, re-drilling is not an option. It is one bad ass wheel. I love it. Not that it really matters, but a set is right at $8k and you aren’t likely to find any “deals” on those.

To echo what others have said, I love Volk wheels. I have a couple sets on others cars in the past. For a mass produced wheel, they can’t be beat. I just wish they offered more/better fitments for us. Without re-drilling, the options are pretty limited.

I’m running -3 camber up front with tires that are 9.5 inches wide on the tread face (9.8 wide section width) – so these are as pretty much as wide as 265 PSS’s. ride height is at about 25.5 ftg.

OH i forgot to mention 1 thing re: centercaps - you don’t want to run them on the track anyway.
Not only is it a hazard (they can pop off and cause unnecessary debris), but they will melt if you brake enough. In addition, they keep the heat in at the hub and wheel bearing, so it’s not doing anyone any good by keeping them on.

I actually do not run center caps period (even on the street). For racing events, they are not even allowed.

those look like LE37T aka lipped TE37s

thanks for the reminder. -5 now. I need to set a 24 hr alarm

Don’t think they are. That is the full “formula” finish, where the LE37T was a light gunmetal center with polished lip.

Thanks. That’s a good point of reference. You can definitely squeeze a lot more in the fender with that much negative camber.

You can buy the Volk TE-37 TTA wheels in 5x112

Or any of these styles.

It’s not that they don’t offer their wheels in a 5x112 bolt pattern. The offsets they offer in 5x112 just aren’t conducive to the B8 S4. The example you showed is pretty representative of most styles. The 19x9.5" comes in ET29 and ET50 where the ideal offset in that size is somewhere between ET38 and ET45. The 19x8.5" comes in ET45 where stock is ET43. 18x9" comes in ET49 where the ideal offset would be ET35-ET40.

The best bet for Volk’s is some of the newer 20" sizes (G2, G12, G25, G27). 18" and 19" options are pretty non-existent other than a couple 19x8.5" options that still aren’t completely ideal.

Trust me, I spent a lot of time looking, and even talking to Mackin (their distributor) to see what options we had. The other issue is that a lot of 5x112 fitments are nearly impossible to get, or they do a very limited run like once a year.

conducive?

tending to produce; contributive; helpful; favorable

Maybe not the best adjective, but I was going for the favorable part…

So did you buy them? XD
I have not yet warmed up to these really modern wheel designs personally. Not sure how it would look like on a B8.
If I were going BBS, I’d stick with the CHR/LM/LMR out of personal preference (aesthetics only).

These belong to my friend. We’ll see how they look on his F80. I inquired about Audi fitments. The max size I’d want is 19 x 9.
