Best brake conversion for RS4?

So im trying to find what is the best aftermarket and/or oem combo(from the VAG parts bin) for our RS4’s. I already the big rotor kit from JHM but was thinking maybe ceramics. What are your thoughts?

James

The RS4 already has some very big brakes stock and you have added the JHM bigger brake kit. To be honest the rs4 stops great in stock trim with the right pads and from the few times I have driven a RS4 with the JHM big brake kit I felt like that was more then enough for whatever situation you could be in. Even stopping at speeds over 130mph the brakes were strong and stable.

Ceramics are nice but I have found they dont seem to bite hard on cold brakeing. I personally think they are a bit much for a street car but some others might think differently

“Best” is kind of a relative term… Are you looking to track the car? Looking for the most cost-effective solution? The lightest? The largest, most bling-blang possible?

It’s best to match your equipment to it’s intended use.

To be honest ive built the car trying to have the best of everything so whilst the 380mm rotors are probably fine they dont quite fit the bill what with the standard calipers. Im running 20’s so something that’ll fill the rims out but also work well for fast road use.

So after some searching around on the internet ive seen that you can fit 410mm rotors with Lamborghini gallardo 8 pots and 4 pots gallardo rears-id like to go this route. Does anyone know how?

Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. I wouldn’t qualify any part of that setup as “best”. I would qualify it as “biggest” or “blingest”, but that certainly doesn’t mean the best. You’re adding a great deal of unsprung, rotating weight, while adding very little in terms of actual braking performance. Even with an aggressive pad, several aftermarket setups that are much smaller, will stop far quicker, more consistently, and last longer. Now if you’re just looking for “big”, then that’s fine, I’ll bow out of the discussion.

Hint: Look into the Stoptech f/r setup.

Cheers Koolade. I agree with you if i were tracking the car but to be honest this is wrong kind of car to do so with the amount of work thats gone into it. So really this is more for appearances.

I did look at Stoptech but they only go to 380mm which i have already.

I think Im gonna go with Brembo’s GT BBK albeit with 405mmX34 and custom bells. Using there 6-pot monoblock caliper rather than the 8-pot cast. And for the rear i’ll again go the brembo BBK 380mm route but with an e-brake.

Yes its alot of money but ive already spent this much to get the car this far i might as well go all the way.

I’ve been eyeing Stoptech Trophy kit. koolade9 is this the one you’re referring to and what’s your take on it?

If I didn’t already have Alcons, I’d have the Stoptech trophy kit. It’s the best setup on the market for the B5/B6/B7.

What made you pick Alcons over Trophy kit?
