Man you are scaring me, im out of warranty.
if its something like that i will have to get rid of the car.
I hope that is not the issue.
Just an FYI, you can get a reman’d short block from Audi for under $9k.
I think it is pretty common for dealers to charge $25k on the invoice for a long block, as I have seen that figure a few times now. But, as everything else at the dealership, the price is hugely inflated.
Also, although a cylinder wall issue is possible, I wouldn’t jump to any conclusions. As always, logical troubleshooting should be followed to determine root cause of your issue.
If you want to check cylinder wall damage or scoring as a possible issue, then there should be a fairly straight forward way of doing that. I had mine borescoped before we started the project to make sure it in good shape. A compression test and leakdown would also be good to have.
Justin, can you confirm that a borescope, compression and leakdown test are the ways to check for any possible cylinder wall or piston issues?

RevS6, welcome to the site!!!
Please post an intro in the A6/S6 members profile section.
Do you happen to have any pics of the cylinder scoring? I would like to add your experience to the S6 Info Dump.
A compression test is always a great start. I would highly suggest follow the DIY on how to do a compression test located in the tech section of this site. It’s in the B6 b7 S4 DIY but you can see how it adapts to every car.
The bore scope is a great idea it can be tough getting good pictures of the cylinder walls especially in the cylinders where the pistons are close to the top. You might want to rotate the motor over per cylinder as needed.
Did this on saturday

And???
And i dont feel much of a difference maybe slightly better throttle response, im guessing mine was pretty clean to begin with 49000 miles.
Willing to bet that there is still a good amount of carbon buildup present. The only way to know for sure is to pull the manifold.
Most likely, the last carbon cleaning was done at 32000 miles.
i’ll see if i can spend some free cycles this week for my intro… thanks.
unfortunately i was not provided pics even though i requested for them. i was just glad hearing that it will be fully covered by my warranty that i didn’t follow-up on my request for pics. do know that i have had this CEL issue that i tried to get resolved for almost three years.!
i forgot to add that i did try to do the BG Induction Service per the OP. and no. that didn’t help either. you may notice a better response in a day or two, then it goes back to it’s problem state in a week, including CEL.
one important note: i was religious with adding BG44K when i had the failing engine, but carbon buildup continued.
either way, i plan on doing it every 3-4 months with my new engine as i have heard other S6 owners at QW/AW forums have good results with it.
