Haven’t seen these before for the 3.0. Might help a few guys out.
cool stuff, good for them for filling a market. the only concern I would have is loosing the fuse aspect of the plastic arms (something is bound up so the arms break, now the arms dont break so that other something does).
Yea, might just expose another weakness. I think zingo had a problem with these on his 3.0 where the arms broke though. I know someone had bought a set or two off ebay to try and make a replacement. Like the link says its an expensive oem part to replace.
Thats what i need!!! :o
Yea saw your thread wasn’t sure if it was the same part, good stuff ;D
I bet you it is a pain in the rear to take the valve a part with a screw driver…it seems like its glued?
This makes me feel better about doing my PCV replacement this summer and working in the general area of the actuator. Given the stories of so many people having the arms break while working on it, it’s nice to see an aftermarket solution.
Forgive my ignorance but what exactly are these for and what do they do for the car?
They are on the intake manifold underneath a cover. At ~4500 rpms, the actuators switch and create a shorter air path for air going into the engine to make for better top end power. If the actuators break, you are stuck with one air path, so you get to pick from top end power, or low end torque. The arms frequently break when people are doing work in the area, or working on the intake manifold. Until now, the only replacement has been a fuel new intake manifold AFAIK.
