my frustrations are that people soak up any and all marketing ploys from all around. its the same shit that happens on every single platform when apr revo and giac all have something to present. things never change i just wish people would learn from past experiences that step by step have unfolded in the exact same way. every new platform i gotta listen to this non stop bickering and dick waving… it gets real old

+1 on both counts. Just head over to VW Vortex and the pissing contest about the 2.0T game for the GTI’s. APR vs AWE/GIAC that time. I thought APR responded pretty well relatively speaking, but I don’t think any of these tuners ever come out looking good after these threads.

The issue is most people can’t smell hype… you get some companys that have bogas parts and they pimp a dyno sheet and try to sell units off that bullshit. From there your always going to get guys that REALLY REALLY want to believe that they can get 15whp from a hot air intake just as a past example

Simple fact is most of the guys don’t know shit and they get mad when you point out Tue obvios. I always found it funny that the small minded people will call you a nut swinger because they don’t want to believe that they intact have done no actual real thinking. It’s always eaiser to bash then think.

That’s the problem, most of the people of the B8 S4 forums are relativity new and have not experienced all the scams and marketing hype that tuners have done. They believe it is all gospel. Its not like the guys from the B5&6 platforms that have seen all this before, when a tuner has done something we all expect hard data.
It’s hard to get straight facts easily out of those threads. Like for some of those 1/4 mile times you have to dig through the thread to determine that race gas was in the Revo car. I mean why not make it clear like “stock S4, race gas 100, Revo tune”.
Someone needs to take control of that forum’s data like the B6/7 1/4 mile times i.e. full list of mods + fuel AKI/RON, vids/pics, two runs within a certain percentage of each other, verifiable timeslips (full pics, no chops), any witnesses.
A ton of people seem to have jumped on the bandwagon and gotten Revo tuned on the basis of ONE person’s 1/4 mile time. And no shop car either. I hope those buyers are not disappointed, I really do.
The b8 guys are deffinitly going to go threw the hype stage. Apr seems to have a solid grasp on tuning revo is taking advantage of people eager to believe that the late team to the party must have better food.
I think the smart money is on Apr. Revo has already shown there not as good at tuning as Apr and that there more then happy to grenade a customers car to try and make sales

Seeing kevkev’s time jump to the front of the list, and to APR’s blog and FACEBOOK pages, even though all he posted was a postage stamp sized crop of a timeslip (from a Mercedes 9 years ago) shows that the list is crap.
It also took like 10 days to get the fast GIAC time up on the list. I’m not saying Arin isn’t doing a good job on the list, but he’s certainly incented to see APR cars do well (and equally diincented to see REVO and GIAC cars’ successes buried.)
The whole B8 forum is pretty damn funny to be honest. I post on the Audiworld B8 forum now and again just for fun. The guys are for the most part ok, but there are about 10 % of them that are complete egomaniac nutcases who know nothing about true performance. They just spit out long-standing myths that have been passed down from platform to platform.
