Only thing code I get is for a vacuum leak. Oil temp sensor will come on and off. Could this be related to the oil temp sensor? Kind of makes sense that it would but this is the first time it has started pouring out of the resevior like its over heating. My temp gauge is fine, warms up and everything. Tempted to burn up all the coolant on I-4 & wrapping it around a tree.

I replaced the o ring on the cap but the cap seams to be shot as well. If its the cap, great. If its the oil temp sensor & the cap, okay. If its something else, you’ll see me parting out my car in the classifieds.

is it just me or is there zero coolant there?

I had a coolant leak on my old B6 A4 Avant back in the day, and it turned out to be something tiny like the thread on a plastic screw. Was a $1.50 repair.

Lots of guys get the cracks in the coolant reservoir too. I have a spare at home that I’ll swap in at around 40,000 miles.

p.s. car looks good there. Neat wheels. What are those from?

Can you get testing tools for coolant leaks the same way you can for vacuum leaks? Might be worth a shot. I have a weird coolant leak that is near the reservoir, it will spurt out a tiny bit of coolant every now and then, I think only when I really whomp on the gas pedal.

That was near the end of it spurting up the rest of the coolant. It will run fine, but start smoking, I got home and parked it. Popped the hood, smoke came spewing out an coolant was coming out of the overflow part of the coolant res. replaced the o ring on the cap and went for a drive. Got home, same shit. Could this be te cap is shot? But still don’t understand why it is boiling. It spits out all of the coolant out of the top of the coolant res.

what does you coolant temp look like? sounds like it is overheating

for coolant leaks you can get uv die you run through the system, then use a uv lamp to see where its coming out… it stains the block temporarily

Coolant temp stays right in the middle

Also my “coolant” is almost 100% water now. Inspected the coolant cap as well and looks like part of it has broken apart, any relevance?

yeah if the pressure relief is damaged that could explain why its boiling over all the time… and try adding G12 in, it should increase the boiling point of the mix so it should reduce pressure

Pressure plus boiling point of the coolant should bring it down.

Just so stressed.

^^^this is what happens when you drive a $40,000 car that is 9 years old. Gotta be strong dude!

For B6 A4 money you could drive a hassle free 2007 Civic. But you’d be miserable.

Cheer up.

I had a guy drool over my car a couple months ago, wanted to trade his newish civic straight across the board. Preeeetty tempting, I’d probably save so much $$$ per year. But I’m in a committed relationship. Zingo you just need a couple beers and a lapdance tonight. Then tackle your car again tomorrow.

Moar civic!! Lol

My biggest gripe is it wasn’t one thing at a time, my list in the past week has probably tripled on what I HAVE to get done. I know owning an “older” car has its downfalls. I just hope she gets her act together before I have to break up with this bitch.

Keep at it mate…she will come good again

So I had no choice but to drive to work this morning, which I’m sitting at now. It’s a 12 mile commute which 11 went fine.
About a mile before I pull in, red coolant light starts flashing, assuming it dumped almost all the coolant, then my red oil light came on. This freaked me the fuck out. The temp gauge then got up too about 1/8 under the red. Barely made it to work and pop the hood, coolant is bubbling out again and smoking.

Edit* oil pressure light

potentially not good, do not run the motor with the oil pressure light on… ensure the wiring to the pressure sender is intact (two wires, if one breaks you lose the circuit and the light trips, I did it launching the A6), ensure your oil level is sufficient. Check the motor for oil leaks

Here’s what I hope my problem is.
