Bluetooth or New Headunit for my S-Fo

So I’ve got an 04 S4 with the Bose Symphony radio. A few years back, I put in the Funkwerk EGO TALK bluetooth unit that I got from Enfig Car Stereo. It has worked alright, and the music streaming is fairly clear, but it turns out that the call sound is really loud and distorted (nobody told me til recently). I need to make phone calls from my car, and lately I’ve diverted to just using speaker phone on my iPhone 5S or the headphone use.

The stereo itself is alright, I guess, and I wouldn’t mind upgrading. I don’t want to spend thousands, but I do need the bluetooth speaker phone functionality to be better and noise cancelling (I’m about to install an exhaust).

What are your recommendations? A better bluetooth hands free kit (something like a Parrot), or a new head unit? The hands free setups are up to $200, so if I could spend $300 or $400 on a headunit and get better sound out of the deal, maybe that’s a better option.

I appreciate the feedback of this group. You’ve been great on my other topics.

I’m not sure you’ll find a head unit for that cheap total cost. I bought a Pioneer AVHP4300DVD a few years back for $325 on eBay. I spent another $175 on the cage, cable interface, override for playing DVDs while moving, and the Apple media cable. Bluetooth wasn’t included apparently but I thought it was when I ordered it. I know you can get something similarly priced with Bluetooth now though I can’t speak to the quality other than appearance which is just average. Also, for $500 I was too impressed with the quality, but it was alright.

I’d consider looking into getting an RNS-E from a B7 off eBay and I think they have Bluetooth or there’s a way to add it if I’m not mistaken. I’m also looking at getting a Dynavin head unit. You can get the new one for $799 on eBay and includes everything you need to hook it up. Has Bluetooth and GPS too.

If your interested i have a Gen 1 RNSE with very little use (took it out of the car with 28k on it). Havent gotten around to posting yet but as i said clean and low use.

It would come with all necessary cables (bluetooth, Nav radio and antenna i believe, sirius radio etc.) and a 2012 (maybe 2013 Nav Disc cant remember what year). I might still have the factory IPOD connector that goes in the glovebox as well (although there was a loose connection with in the IPOD adapter).

600 shipped.

600 shipped is a crazy good deal.

Shit. Maybe I should slide in and take that deal :yum:

MDUBZ - jump on it. It’s a great deal, but my tune is going to run over budget I think.

Don’t think this is in the budget right now. I pick my car up in 2 weeks and I have a bit left to pay for. I wish though.

Hit me up later. I might be trying to upgrade from my RNS-E unit out of mine when I get back summer.

I upgraded my stereo so I have the original head unit if you want to make an offer on it. Are you in Canada?

If anyone wants it PM me. I sell it to anyone on this site for that price shipped.

oops, sorry should have read the whole thing before posting.
