Is anybody using this?
Check this out it seems to cover what people use to boost octane. When i get a chance I will look to see if the stuff your linking is just one of the chemicals included in the thread.
Did some searching and most guys that use boostane say they get a orange residue on there plugs tips and 02s. This seems like a sign of mmt. In a video on boostanes site they show a comparison vs torco on how much better there mix holds the mmt suspended. I would have to guess that from that and the reports it’s just like the other boosters just more expensive.
actually i was about to post that as well after reading some forum posts on the GTR platform. Well Race Gas it is just need to find some here prior the track opens in April.
Yeah its a lot of money and risk to try and mix your own blend.
FWIW, About a year ago I stumbled on an article that tested several octane boosters. The article stated none of them increased octane and a couple actually reduced it.
True for almost all of the parts store octane boosters. There are those out there that work, the lucas stuff from the parts store does work but it is not very potent. Torco has been used for a long long time across several platforms with success. It’s pretty much what you default to if E85 is not an option in your area and you don’t want to pay $6+ a gallon for race gas.
Homebrew race gas works great too. Toulene(sp?) works great. I think the Porsche crowd uses it a lot. Doesn’t seem as prevalent in the domestic world.
The domestic guys go right for the leaded gas.
Most of the store bought stuff is just alcohol it might raise the detonation limit but not the hp. Boostane and other special bought chemicals are lead like additives.
I know I linked it above but this is a very good read
