Brake duct Install - photos

Hi guys,

I have just installed some brake ducts on the car and wanted to share it with you. I often drive the car on track and have found the discs to get a bit overheated so to help reduce risk of having braking issues I’ve installed these home made brake ducts. They’re behind the front lower bumper grill and, and there’s just enough space to get the 75mm hose ducting through to the fenders. It was a pretty simple install and its not noticeable from the exterior.

I just bought the 75mm hose ducting from the one and only auction site.

I’m looking forward to trying it on my next track day to see if brakes stay a bit cooler.

Nice. Let us know how it works out. Maybe this with a phaeton brake duct setup in combination would be great.

Thanks mate.

Yes I looked at the Phaeton brake duct mod, but it involved a bit more work, and also you need to have the air coming into the fender well in the first place and this gets it there. But you’re right that both would probably work even better.

There’s actually an ever simpler mod than the Phaeton mod, which is using the Audi RS3 brake cooler, which just use zip ties to secure on!! I haven’t tried this, but looks so easy. Once again you need the air in the fender well in the first place. So you would need to slice off the lower part of the under tray which diverts air under the car and away from the fender wells to improve air efficiency.

Don’t you have a radiator in the driver’s side space?

Yeah there’s a removable duct cover and plenty of space to put the hose next to the radiator.
