Brake pad recommendations

Stock Stoptech performance pads are running low and beginning to squeal pretty bad. Going to order some new pads asap. I’m looking at getting Carbotechs as I’ve heard great thing but I’m still open to suggestions.

What compounds would you guys recommend for front/rear? I have the Stoptech ST-60 up front and stock rears.

XP12/XP10 combo?

carbotech bobcats are good. Stock like performance, slightly less dust, no squeal on my RS4. Very happy because the OEM pads squeal full fucking time.

I think they are Carbotech 1521.

Fluid flushed and pads installed today. Motul RBF 600 flushed and replaced. Carbotech XP8s up front and AX6s in the rear. Braking is transformed. I haven’t had a chance to properly bed them yet but they already feel significantly better than the Stoptechs. Cold bite is outstanding and the pedal feel is very consistent.

How often do you flush and refill if you’re using RBF600 on a daily street car?

Annually. Probably should do it every 6 months but I’ve been bad about it. I plan to start doing it in a May -> November cycle.

You don’t need an all out racing fluid like the Moltul. Pentosin high performance, or ate gold will be fine. It’s not worth the hassle of having to swap it out for zero performance gain on a street car that doesn’t see track time.

See if Akebono Euro pads are available for your car. That or their performance pads which are pretty much the same thing.

I am in need of new pads as well…B5 application with st40 332x32 bbk, but figure it is still applicable to the discussion. I keep on flip flopping between several options including hawk hps, performance friction 1038, ferodo ds2500 or bobcat 1521. The car is daily street driven 99.9% of the time.

Fwiw, we replaced our avants pads with akebono euro ceramics and they have lived up to their billing. Improved pedal feel both cold and during spirited back road runs, way low dust (fully polished wheels stay surprisingly shiny in between washings) and zero noise. I am impressed.

I actually boiled my stock fluid a few years back while on my stock brake setup so I’m willing to spend a little more on better fluid. Not necessary but I’m happy with it.

Happy with the Carbotechs for now. Much better cold bite than the Stoptech street performance pads. I still need to bed them, however.

the beauty of the carbotechs is not squeaking.

Stock B8 brakes…holy fuck. Our wagon squeaks like crazy and so does my friend’s B8 S4 (2012). It’s a little embarrassing.

My friend switched to carbotech bobcats and problem solved. Our B8 A4…not so much lol.

Saki have you tried bedding in the brakes? My HPS that I had on the A4 and the HTS my dad had on his envoy would develop an embarrassing squeek after x miles. The solution is to do a few very had 50-5 stops as if you were bedding in the brakes.
