Brand new here! Couple questions

Hey man, appreciate the advice!

I took this from the description of the system:
•Mandrel bent dual T-304 Stainless steel, 2.50" (63mm) mid pipes with “resonance chamber crossover” flows into twin rear mufflers with dual outlets.
It mentions a crossover, not sure if that makes a difference or not…

Hey Shaun!

I definitely did but Darcy’s car! I was initially looking for another STI, but had to check this car out… and fell in love! the rest as they say is history!

Heres a pic i found of it underneath that you could actually tell.

I’ll get a pic of mine today after class

Definitely not a crossover in that pic, lqmeh. That’s actually SoCalNoS4Avant’s car.

Here is a pic of the B7 system. Not sure what to call that?

If you don’t have a crossover, some power can be had by welding in a simple x-pipe. You can get a good one for under 100 bucks.

ahem, cough, cough,…look in the classifies, cough…

I have a 2.5" magnaflo X brand new in box for sale…PM if you’re interested.

Once upon a time mine looked almost exactly like that. So with that note, I approve of the car op!

Stasis isn’t the “best” performance catback , but there aren’t many complaints about quality it seems, so that’s good. And as mentioned, adding in a shallow X wouldn’t be that difficult and would certainly help. But I’d probably keep what ya got unless you wanted to sell and go to another system. You’d probably need a nice custom one made for it to really fit right and now you’re getting to the money point where it’s a wash to go to F.I. or the such.

It’s pretty interesting their design, slip fit to DP’s (guessing maybe that portion is supposed to be welded), then V bands (which is a very nice design feature), then slip fit at the rear axle (you’d think they’d charge a bit more and go with VBand again, no?). And after using good stainless and 2.5" piping, you’d think they’d have a crossover in there, but they clearly don’t.

OP your definitely on the right track with your mods. In the last six months I have done all those and what a difference they make. I went with trexturk dp’s and also have a Stasis exhaust. With the stasis exhaust, the “resonance chamber crossover” IMO helps but its not a true X. If you look closely at the welds the “crossover” section is probably 4 inches long but only an inch or so wide where the pipes meet. Here’s a couple vids of the catless pipes with the stasis.

While I won’t claim to know much about cars. I have been shown first hand how bad it is to not have a cross over in a high revving v8. Audi eliminates the cross over as a way to cut power. Knowing and have actually been to Stasis I can tell you that stasis made that exhaust with the sole intention of making money not performance. They later changed the exhaust design to include a X due to the poor performance without one. I would highly suggest either selling the exhaust or installing a X.

Doing so will be a great investment for not only power but proper flow between banks on the motor.

Just add an x pipe and your set bra.

ahh thats slightly frustrating… I wish I knew that when I ordered it.

Is having no cross over a huge deal?? I’ll change it up this spring if it is…

It’s a pretty big deal if you Want to make the most power out of your setup. Just put it into you “to do list” of mods for the car. When you are ready we’ll guide you to an x pipe that is good and won’t break the bank

treb… ITs a very big deal VERY big… On turbo cars or other FI cars its not as needed. Its the X in the pipe that ballences out each side of the motor and helps keep the motor ballenced and healthy. Building cars for over 15years I can tell you that its only in your best interestes to get a X in there. I personally don’t like that Stasis has been taken over by corprate guys they are making cuts on parts and shipping everything to china

there was a 20 page post on how Stasis exhaust and other parts were garbage and included in this was how several people showed dyno loss for installing the Stasis catback on the 4.2 S4 and other experts saying such a exhaust was going to do damage

When you click the link you will see that Audizine has deleted this information as staisis is getting sued and several people wre putting out how bad staisis products are

Your not skrewed but you really do need to rither sell the exaust and get a proper one or put in a X

Thank you for the info, will the addition of an x-pipe to the system drastically alter the sound?

I may just hold off until tax return time and buy a new system…

I agree the X is going to be the best bet. Its really a need when it comes to the overall performance and balance.

The X will change the sound. IT will take down more drone and leave the exhaust tone more tight.

It will be a much more refined sound. You can just replace the set of resonators closest to your dp’s with an x pipe and it should keep the sound the same as now.

Sorry to beat a dead horse here guys!

I am picking up an xpipe but am a little nervous hacking up my stasis catback! Mainly worried there will be an overall negative effect…

Anyone put an xpipe in their stasis exhaust? Or an equivalent?

I wouldn’t be too nervous about hacking up the statis catback. To be honest, you’re going to be way better off with the xpipe, like everybody else has said.

That was one of the main things I made sure my catback had when I was deciding on what to go with, thats why I went with Fast Intentions

It will only make it better, and you’ll be doing yourself a favor in making stasis’ product better.
