Broken plastic line/tube identification needed.

Hey guys. So I couldn’t get any pics to upload at all. But! I did find a pic of it from this forum. Please see the following link.

If you look at the second post, it has pictures. Look at the first pic. Above that main shaft wheel pulley, there is a metal tube. Clipped to that, right above that metal tube is the black plastic line I am talking about. It is broken. I do not know what it does or where it goes. I tried to feel it and it goes somewhere behind the bumper on passenger side towards headlight washer area. Anyone have an idea of what this line is?

It is a vacuum control line. The Audi p/n is 07L201934.

It connects to another vacuum line on the RHS that runs over to the vacuum reservoir in the right fender. On the left, it connects to another line just below the headlight.

You are the man eng! Thanks! Do you know what this line controls? I haven’t noticed any functionality problems with it being broken.

On the underside of the hood, there is a printed label with a vacuum hose routing diagram. On the diagram, the line that has broken is the one running from the vacuum reservoir on the top left down and around to where it tees into a line between the leak detection pump for the EVAP system and a non-return valve. This also ties into the valves that control the flow of air for the SAI system. It is all emissions related stuff.

Thanks a lot again Eng. I’ll look today for the diagram. Would you by chance know if this is a super important fix needed? Will it throw a check engine light? It looks like a pain in the ass the replace because it’s hard to get to. But I do need to go through emissions soon(Maryland).

Access is pretty good if you put the front end into the service position.

If the engine is running fine and you have no current or pending emissions related codes, I would not be too concerned about passing emissions.

Lol I have no clue how to put the front end into service mode. Although, it will be going to the body shop next week. I had front end damage about 2 years ago and it was repaired by a shop in the DC area(Caliber collision, stay away). They royaly screwed this repair up. I noticed it all while working on the car the past week. I have a lifetime warranty on work through USAA. So it’s going to Mercedes of Alexandria for the redo. I might ask them to replace it while they have the front end off. I did notice my brakes are a little mushy. I thought it might be a vacuum issue. But I also think that might be because the fluid is original 2007 stuff. Gonna bleed this weekend.

Thanks a whole lot Eng for your help and information! You’ve been most helpful!
