C5 A6 4.2 Engine Destruction

So I acquired this new to me project car from a family member. It looks like the Timing belt grenade tensioner failed resulting in destruction in so far the passenger side head (bank 1) Need to pull the rest apart and see what happened. I already sourced a complete S6 engine (BBD) for a swap, been a while since I played with Audi V8s. Figured you motor heads would like to see this (like looking at a train wreck)

nice to have you back in a V8. Those are nice cars and there is a small list of good mods you can do. Even if you just keep it as a DD they are fun cars.

You can keep that short block that looks not too bad.

When you go to put it back together consider getting a reman tq converter. Any plans other then just getting it back together

Thanks Justin, the car has already been converted to 6spd 01e, with an AWE flywheel and RS4 clutch I would like to do some power mods to it while I am doing this. I am on the hunt for S6 downpipes and an exhaust. Yeah the shortblock isn’t that bad just the number one piston with the hole in it. Pulled the drivers side last night and it was just fine.

The dps are not too bad on those depending on the year. Just pull out the precat and look for making or getting a good catback. As for the clutch. If you add too much more power the clutch wont hold for long. As you know JHM has a great tune. If your looking for some really trick stuff look at this
