C6 A6 vs S6 grille fitment?

I was under the impression that, though having different bumpers, the mounting points of the grille on a 2010 (using my model year) A6 and S6 were the same. Is this not the case? I have been told by ECS that they are not.

I am looking at purchasing the RS6 Mesh Style Grille. https://www.ecstuning.com/ES2931540/

Since they didn’t have the S6 listed as a compatible vehicle, I inquired about fitment and was told it won’t fit.

What say you?

There are a few threads on here where guys add the RS6 grill. Or aftermarket open face grills. The body is the same so I dont see how there would be an issue other than the possible issue of a face lift car vs a non face lift car

Yes, I’ve read numerous threads on this forum as well as others, and was definitely not expecting ECS to say something contrary to what I’ve been reading and seeing. And the particular grille I am looking at is for face lifted C6s.

All of these aftermarket RS6 grilles are essentially being made from the same couple of molds, with the only real difference I’ve seen being quality control and some having the ring bracket with the correct angle orientation and some not. I chose the ECS one because it looks like it passes each of those.

Perhaps the different bumper on the A6 and S6 is what has them thinking the grille is different? Who knows.

i have a genuine rs6 grille on mine and i believe the a6/s6/rs6 grille fitments are all the same

I think the issue is they are selling parts but they are not formilure with the car at all. Its more of a parts mill than a company that really is invested. Its nice to have options but it looks like we have the information here that says depending on what brand it is it should fit.

Yes, I’ve come to that conclusion. I was tempted to reply explaining this, but didn’t feel like having it become a back and forth over who knows what.

I have ordered another from a different reseller that looks equally as good, at least in the pictures provided. Here’s hoping it looks like the pictures. I will have my own pictures and a review once I get my car back from JHM and get the front-end off.

I recently installed the typical ebay version of the RS6 grille on my C6 S6 and I found that half the mounting points for the grille did not line up with the bumper. if I remember correctly there are 12 in total and only six lined up. IMO the 6 that did line up are sufficient to secure the grill to the bumper so maybe that’s what they’re referring to.
