C6 S6 misfire

Ill have to click on the other two but the codes that come up are

ABS voltage and break pressure switch. The pressure switch has been faulting out for a while. The three beeps usually for the ABS fault.

As for the motor it looks like a knock sensor fault and missfire at part throttle

How should I proceed, in your opinion? Take it to a shop or attempt anything myself?

I don’t know why I never saw this. Did you ever make any progress on this

I’m taking it to an Audi shop on Monday, as I finally have the money for the ABS module. Hoping that will resolve the BRAKE light flashing too, as they’re likely related. Not sure why it took so long for the second thing to come up though.

keep us posted on this.

It turns out that the smoke and smell coming from the driver side engine bay was a leak in the oil pan. At high velocity, some of the oil would come in contact with a component that generally operates at a high temperature, causing it to vaporize and smoke to emerge. At least, they’re fixing that now, and it seemed to make sense to them.

I have yet to pick up the car, so I’ll find out on the BRAKE indicator light pretty soon. I haven’t had a misfire in quite some time, so after I get the car back, I’ll have to get up to my usual antics and see if the issue resurfaces. I generally keep the gas tank at least half full (seem to have fewer issues when I do), but I’ve ran it lower recently to put Techron in and haven’t had any of the issues with rough starts or anything that I’d had before, but I’m not convinced the problem is solved completely yet.

Will definitely keep you guys posted, thanks for your time so far.

Was playing around with an SRT8 on the highway, and I swear I could smell the smell that was associated when the car would produce that smoke I talked about earlier. I could be crazy, but I also notice that my car pulls to the right slightly when breaking. The smoke could potentially be coming from the brake on the left side, but I can’t tell for sure. The other day, just that rotor was covered in rust–it looked like water had dripped all over it, and where the water contacted the rotor, it rusted. I looked a day later and the rust was gone.

Any idea what could be happening here? Should I post this in a new topic?

Most likely the smoke/smell is not related to your brakes at all.

The pulling to the right slightly can be a few things, if you’re due for a brake job/alignment i’d do those first… especially if it’s only pulling “slightly”.
If it pulls hard to the right under braking your left caliper pistons could be seized causing the right brake to do most of the work and causing it to pull that direction under braking. An easy way to check for this is brake wear. If the brake pads are wearing evenly then the caliper isn’t seized… unless they’ve recently seized.

Surface rust on the rotor is 100% normal. They will always do that if the car is left for a day or two. Even just the humidity in the air will cause it. Like I said, totally normal and will go away as soon as you drive the car.

It might be helpful to others to start a new topic as there is a lot of good information that can be shared in response to your post. If you want start a new thread on this and I’ll add to the response there.
