Can you code headlights for RHD / LHD?

Hey guys

This is a random question, but is there a VAGCOM code to switch the headlights from RHD to LHD? Or is it a different part number?

I’m going to drive my US-spec S6 on the other side (UK style) for the next 3 years. I know, crazy…

In the central con- section I think you can code your head lights. But I don’t know if the actual headlight activity is any different.

But check there.
It would be under ROW or Germany you would code it to.

I thought there was an entry for that in the Car menu? Something like “adjust headlights for non-US” or something like that - I’m assuming it ties into the GPS??

I’ll look later - it might’ve been in the Carista optional features menu, but I did see it.

Germany is lhd the same as us vs uk which is rhd. So different headlights.

Excuse me for being slow, LHD VS RHD… what’s the impact on the headlights?

I believe there is “tourist mode” for the headlights… so if you’re going to a RHD country you can switch

Note: If coding is 0000255, then the module is NOT coded. Do not try to recode with 0000255.
Security Access

02000 = General Coding "Enabling"
02000 > 03000 > 04000 > 05000 = General Adaptation "Enabling" (Enter one after another)

Adaptation
Channel 020: Showroom Effect

After activating the showroom effect the dynamic cornering light at vehicle standstill can be demonstrated to the customer. The showroom effect remains active until the showroom effect is deactivated via the function program.

0 = Disabled
1 = Enabled

Channel 023: Tourist Solution

When driving in countries where driving is performed on the opposite side as in the native country the headlights must be changed over to avoid blinding the oncoming traffic.

0 = Disabled
1 = Enabled

Basic Setting
Headlight Adjustment

[Select]
[55 - Xenon Range]
[Basic Settings - 04]
Group 001
[Go!]
Activate the Basic Setting.
[ON/OFF/Next]

The meas. block field now shows "Wait" and should switch to "Adjust Headlights" then (this may take up to 10 seconds).
Adjust the headlights using their manual adjusting screws as referenced against a suitable aiming target.

[ON/OFF/Next]
The adjustment should now be learned.
[Done, Go Back]
Don’t forget to check/clear fault codes afterwards.
[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]

This is what I need. If I read correctly, you enable “Ch23. Tourist Solution” and then manually adjust the headlights according to a reference/target, right? I’ll see if I can find a mechanic to do it for me.

The beam pattern will still be incorrect however you’ll no longer blind oncoming traffic! Won’t really have the most effective field of view.

Alternatively go on eBay.co.uk and buy a set of 2nd hand headlights from a uk car.

should be just fine just switching the tourist solution
