(car porn) S6 v10 vs RS6 v10

Sadly, there is no US version of the RS6.

I can’t tell you how big my softspot is for squared off fender flares. God I miss IMSA and CanAm…

the black grill, the lights are definitely cooler with that flat line in the top of them that makes the car seem to scowl a bit. Seeing them around Europe a couple years ago I loved it.

The whole car just looks sharper and more angular and more nifty.

Most importantly the RS6 also has big flared box fenders that the dark underexposed comparison pictures above unfortunately skip. The A6/S6 looks relatively slab sided in comparison. And the pictures don’t show the wider door sills.

Let’s have a wake up call shall we?

I have the RS6 Bumper on My S6 and am installing the headlights shortly. I brought the bumper back with me and the headlights. just haven’t gotten around to the headlights. The rear is significantly wider fender flares would be necessary in order to bolt up the rear bumper from the Rs6

key^^^

yep, now I see different aspects and better colour they absolute beasts…

It’s all relative I suppose, there’s a guy who parks near me who’s done everything under the sun to make his TDI A4 look like an RS4. I was amazed there are people trying to make their A6 look like an S6. It must be such a relief to not have to bother with all this if you own an RS ;D

Ah yes the famous rare 1.9 TDI RS4 models, lots of them in Ireland too! oil burners!

hahahaha that’s funny because it’s true.

When I owned an S4 I was always annoyed that there was a much better version of the car floating about. I ended up buying an RS4 when my S4 was a bit long in the tooth.

So just to clarity - are the panels on the S6 identical to stock A6, or are they just lest flared than RS6?

The front fenders are wider not sure about the rears

most of the body is the same as A6 S line
fenders (panels) are the same as basic A6 but bumpers and door blades etc are different

It looks like the front wheel arches are more flared than stock A6, or is that just me eyesight.

comparing to the various stock/sline a6’s in the work parking lot they are more flared on my s6

What I don’t get is I’m seeing older 2007 (Ahem…) lesser stock models (A3, A4) with the newer shaped headlights - in fact they look better then the RS6 v10

I dunno - the rear quarters in particular on the RS are sexy AF. Got any pics of what you’re talking about plop?

This is a 2007/08 A3. The actual cavity and light design looks better - more modern and ‘snarley’ (to me anyway) than a 2011 S6/RS6.

It seems to me if you have to pay great attention to the face lift years when buying hi end models.

The first S6 I nearly bought was a early 07 As a clueless newb. I luckily fluked a late 2009 plate and got the face lift. Having studied the S6 I think the face lift makes the car look better.

I am confused about the RS4, seems to be a long gap on the B7 2006 to 2008 - what happend between 2008 and 2012? [url]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audi_RS_4#B7[url]

ah I see. I agree, the 4 series looks a lot less “plain” than the 6. Almost like the 6 is a generation earlier. Especially the DRL’s. I’d love to have the RS flares though! subtle and badass… I wonder if the facelift headlights with the DRL’s would look ok with the prefacelift drl’s or it’d just look weird with 4 lines.

I’m a big fan of old stuff though - I kindof like the look pre facelift. Not sure I prefer one over the other, because honestly I’m in it for the V10 and the comfort level. The unloved by the masses yet really good performing cars seem to attract me the most. The F&F crowd probably won’t glance at this twice at Car&Coffee - and that’s great news. JohnnyLaw probably pays it about the same amount of attention as long as you’re not being a complete tool. Car geeks that know about this…know. If they don’t, they’ll catch a clue through that exhaust note.

With the RS6 fenders in mind, would it even be worth while to purchase only front fenders and disregard the rear since the quarter panel is actually connected from front to back? Would it look weird or out of place? I guess it’s all about perspective if you did go through with it and have a RS6 in the front and S6 in the back, lol.

From a cosmetic standpoint, I’d love to get the RS6 front bumper, grill, headlights and rear diffuser. Possibly the fenders too.

I think what makes sense is to take it in stages. Bumper is always the biggest bang for the buck. I think the rear end is wider stock by 2 inches if I’m not mistaken the data is on here somewhere with the body dementions. But take it in stages with the last one being the front fenders.

That’s a lot of dough! Lol. Also, notice how the “definition” goes through the quarter panel to the rear door.
