Car will not start - 012424 - Starter Relay P3088 - 001 - Electric Malfunct

Hi All,

My RS4 is dead in the garage. I’d ran a complete vag check and received the following code below:

I’ve been experiencing potentially the faulty solenoid starter issue during cold starts during this winter. At the moment, the car has power but it will not crank over. I’ve checked all the fuses and everything checks out fine. Any suggestion in terms of items to trouble shoot? Are there specific relays I should check? Anyone with a similar problem in the past?

I do not have the Bentley manual but would the starter replacement, if it is indeed the culprit, the same on the RS4 as on the S4?

Mark

you have to wait. We have a thread on this somewhere. Won’t crank…won’t crank…won’t crank…then suddenly it will.

PM user AXEL and user 2000S4 if you don’t get anywhere in the old thread.

Thanks, I’d read Axel’s post last night. I’ll go ahead and pm him directly.

Thanks!

Check the Relay first. They can go bad

From the fault codes it looks like it may have gone bad.

Then check the batt voltage. Try putting jumper cables on the Batt and see if that will help.
