Carbon Fiber Lip... Repairable or replace?

My carbon fiber lip is showing some expected wear after seven years. A new replacement piece is an est: $1200. It’s not cheap but it looks rough so I’d like to get it fixed or replace it. Anyone have an opinion and or know if this can be repaired or is a replacement my only option?

I’m not really looking for alternatives ie: CF tape or wrap unless there is an option that is very similar to actual CF.

Thanks for your help guys!

You can sometimes get away with spraying the piece with a new layer of clear coat.

That would be my bet too. U can spray it sand down the high spots and then respray again and keep going till it looks smooth again.

i had a similar issue. i bought one from Kufatec for 600 bucks and it had some missing clear coat here and there but i wrapped it with clear bra and so far so good. If you search my name on this site i have that whole story in my build thread.

Im actually trying to get a source to take my original lip that is peeling like yours and use it as a template to make new ones at a much better price. IF something happens with that ill let you know. (my first go with that was ocarbon but what he was offering me was a slap in the face. I just contacted someone new and ill post about it if anything comes from it).

I was told by a detailing guy that they thought my original piece was fixable and that if i took it to someone good they would strip the clear coat and re clear it and it would look almost brand new.

Usually if its just the clear coat that has the issue, its fixable! I was just helping my friend with some carbon work the other night. Chopping up carbon corvette noses for the splitters, then he does the voodoo magic so we could build a splitter for the mustang. I’d rather buy something already finished.

Is this carbon lips from a audi b7 s4 DTM style? If it is u can buy it from carbon creations for 279$:) thats what i have on my car!

Thanks for the feedback guys!

Yes it is! Thanks!

I bought a replacement from Carbon Creations and just had it installed today. It looks great and fitment is perfect, thank you!

The shop I took it to is also fixing the OEM piece. I saw it today and it looks like new so I’ll have a spare CF spoiler if the the carbon creations piece peels in the future.
