CAUTION: Zombie Michael Schumachers on the loose

Senna, just like many “huge ego” race car drivers was a complete dick, cutting off Prost to secure the championship was disgusting. Jumping ship just to get into the Renault was a dick move (I’m glad that back fired on him and the car wasn’t what he was expecting it to be and he seriously struggled with it). He was a selfish little spoiled brat with religious fanaticism to boot. Every time I saw him, I felt like throwing up.

Not saying Prost was a saint either. He had his own issues and was way too robotic for me but in the grand scheme, I felt he was less of a dick than Senna (but he was still a dick nonetheless, just not to the point of making me sick to my stomach). I felt Senna and Schumacher both went above and beyond the expected douchiness of an F1 driver. Coulthard and Mansell came across as much nicer individuals. Berger seemed ok as well. Maybe you just have to be a complete dick in order to be a repeat World Champion

Can the title be changed? He’s not dead yet!

jspazz - regarding therapeutic hypothermia for brain injury: We don’t routinely do it here in Ontario and I think that’s the case across Canada. The jury’s still out on that one.

Ya Joe shld edit the title. Give the guy a chance to live!

I read/heard somewhere that if you get rabies and you’ve passed the point of no return, the only way to potentially live through it is by inducing coma and cooling the body down to allow for the body to fight it off without the brain expanding to the point of killing the patient. Know anything about that? Rabies is considered the deadliest of all due to the near 100% fatality rate.

Found it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milwaukee_protocol
Turns out it’s only a chemically induced coma, nothing to do with body temperature.

Edit: Apologies for going completely off topic lol

I like this title. Some would say it applied when he was racing

There go the AR mods again, editing the members’ posts ;D

You have to be a collosal cock, I believe the drivers have figured that out, and if you hear the drivers rating each other it pretty much follows the size of their egos. The drivers rate Alonso, Vettel, Hamilton (to me the biggest assholes on the grid) and play down the talents of the more pleasant Button, Massa, Webber, Rosberg. FWIW the assholes are much more enjoyable to watch.

Bango, they are talking about multiple lesions on his brain, left and right side…I mean typically…are we pretty much expecting him to be a veg if he comes to?

Awesome… hopefully he comes to, and we can laugh about this.

Reminds me of the massa incident, man he looked f’d up through his helmet.

Multiple lesions on the brain ain’t good, but the amount of swelling in the brain itself is probably more related to bad outcomes. It sounds like it must’ve been a pretty high speed crash if he was wearing a helmet. He is likely to survive this but with some disability. Which could range from being fully dependent on nursing care to having minor personality/memory issues.

Right, jury still out on it.

Cooling suppresses the inflammatory response related to the TBI (traumatic brain injury) and metabolic demand, in turn improving oxygen supply to anoxic areas. They are hoping to improve his chance of survival and preserve neurological function. The cooling effect could also slow blood reducing any on going hemorrhaging.

nice to know, thanks doctors…funny they don’t do the therapeutic hypothermia up here, I thought there was a huge bandwagon for cardiac arrest and cooling.

Anyway schumacher watch is still on. Apparently improving after second surgery. The media is nuts, by the way:

Wow, that escalated quickly

We do cool people post arrest. Just not for brain injury.

strange twist of fate…after Anglea Merkel had made statements hoping for Schumacher to recover quickly, now she goes down

The guy who replaced Sid Watkins and then fired later on, he has a pretty decent blog.

Since when is skiing such a dangerous sport?

It all depends on where you go and how you do it. Trees, chutes, backcountry, cliffs… the more advanced the terrain the greater the risk.

I stick to the bunny hill and the lodge, lol
