What would cause the difference in wear between driver and passenger sides?

Could be differences in the way the cams were timed from the factory

Could also be small local differences in the stock material, or small local differences due to the machining. That goes for both the block and the pin that goes into it. They both still have machining marks on them from the factory, so without more information, I would probably default to small local differences in the material surface created during machining.

Also, in case it’s of value, it looks like there is a small land in the bottom of that hole, such that the pin only sits on the land but does not touch the bulk of the bottom of the hole. I don’t know if or how the flow of oil works here, so just noting a design criteria.

And each of them seems to have some wear on the side of the hole pointing up in the photo, which is not tangent to its rotation at all. Interesting. Never noticed that before on these.
