Click when depressing clutch

on my RS4 when I depress the clutch pedal (fast or slow) I hear this click at about the half way point. I only hear it on the way down and not on the way back up. I can also feel it through my foot. Is this normal? Any way to get rid of it?
Also my clutch engagement point is way up top. Is this normal?
Thanks!

Define way up top? i.e. if your pedal is travelling from 0 (floor) to 10 (top) where is it?

Mine is in the 5 range.

If it’s the original OEM clutch, engagement shouldn’t really change throughout the life of the clutch. That is the purpose of the SAC system.

Did the engagement change since you bought it?

i would say about 8 (stock clutch).

i’ve only had the car for a month so no changes since.

How many miles?

Does your clutch pedal only come back up like halfway when driving hard?

The early S5s had a similar issue with the throw - out bearings making noise. So we had to pull everything and replace the bearing under warranty. Your car is probably way out of warranty now though unless you have an extended warranty.

Depending on your mileage, I would consider replacing your flywheel, clutch, throw - out bearing, and other required parts.

45k miles.
clutch comes back up all the way even after double press in neutral. no change in stiffness.

Sounds like the throw out bearing or one of the straps is popping. That can happen.

If you have the car off and the car in neutral. When you push down the clutch pedal to the point you hear and feel the noise can you push it down to the point it clicks and have it keep doing it over and over.

For example let’s say you have 10 is all the way at the top and 0 is all the way at the bottom. Let’s say your clicking noise is at the 5 spot. If you push the clutch to the 5 spot and it clicks if you only push the clutch till it clicks and then you back it off to say the 6 spot or just before it clicks and you push the clutch back in can you get it to click over and over and over. Knowing that should help reduce the possible issues that it could be

This is so ironic. I was just about to pose this question as well. Mine is an 07 S4 with 75k. I get the click as well at the mid point, or 5 spot. i do not hear it but I do feel it…very mysterious and annoying. My car had the clutch replaced when the motor was replaced at 56k, but no flywheel. I would be very interested in hearing what this could be…thanks in advance.

And the clutch feels normal throughout the travel and no change in stiffness in my case as well
