cost of wheels shipment?

Can anyone who has been involved in a shipment of a set of wheels/tires roughly 400 miles within the continental USA please advise what the service was and what it cost? Distance shipped is obviously negotiable. Just looking for a ballpark, thanks

Ups.com and fedex.com broke?

Should be $150 ish

Cost me right around 200 to ship 4 19’s with tires from Ohio to New Jersey… That was with insurance also…

Greyhound would be the best route if you and the buyer have a terminal nearby and the buyer is willing to drive to pick them up

You can ship greyhound without traveling with the stuff? I never knew that.

Yep. Best, cheapest way to deliver over sized items like bumpers.

OP - its the tires that kills the shipping rates. I’ve shipped and had multiple wheel sets shipped, even coast to coast for ~$40 per box. US Postal service is a good option as well. Also, if you can ship to a business the big guys like ups and fedex are a little cheaper then.

I’ve had wheels shipped to me from Michigan and Massechusetts. Total cost was around $150-175 for hsipping. This is 4 wheel/tires.

The dollars sounds right, about $150 shipped UPS. So long as tires are on, you can ship the wheels loose with circular cardboard cutouts on the outside faces…just make sure everything is clean to avoid scratching. This is how tire rack does it, and they do a LOT of shipping.

I would go to a Discount Tire place and ask if they have any wheel boxes they are going to throw out.

sounding good - what was the service used, US Postal Service? I may just get this guy to ship them straight to me with a declared value of $400 - as long as UPS isn’t used duty should be okay

Saki had a funny story about the insurance on his wheels

UPS

wow they’re a nightmare with respect to duty in my experience - like $60 on a $100 driver as one example.

how’d you swing that?
