Custom B8/B8.5 Supercharger Heat Exchanger and Resevoir

I’d vouch for him, but it’s not really necessary now.

It’s working great so far. IAT’s look awesome.

Glad to hear, hope you break my record so I can get motivated lol.

^^what record? 6th fastest B8 S4? 2nd fastest GIAC?

Fastest manual S4, since we both have manuals.

Is that a CX Racng core? I used one of their double pass exchangers on my IC system.

For what it’s worth, the bigger reservoir isn’t beicial. Tons of testing on cobras and L’s to prove it. Basically what it comes down to, is that with the increases fluid capacity, it takes longer for the fluid to get hot, but once it does get warm, it takes forever to cool. You want very little fluid with a very high flow pump and an efficient heat exchanger. The only benefit to the bigger reservoirs s that you can fit a bunch of ice in the to run at the strip.

You guys should look into doing something similar to a killer chiller. It uses the a/c system to get the fluid to about 40 degrees.

A killer chilller on a supercharged Audi? Great idea.

B6Joe, I had the vortech aftercooler kit on my mustang… I would make several dozen 16oz solo cup ice blocks that would drop right into the resvoir… I also put a petty cock at the bottom so I could drain most of the fluid, add the ice, make a pass, and repeat… It did wonders for the IAT’s… I also had fans hooked up blowing air across the heat exchanger when I was in the staging lanes… Had a seperate switch to turn them on/off… Haven’t dicked around with it on the S4 though…

I had the core made by a local place actually.

what are the dimensions of the core? Do you have dimensions of the APR or AWE core?

George, just got home and per your pm, the apr is 17 inches H x 25 inches W x 1.5 inches T… Also, on the width 1.5 inches of each side is the end of the exchanger so true frontal area is 22 inches… Hope this helps… Let me know if you need anything else and welcome to the b8 club ;D

No reason it wouldn’t work.

Thanks Ron

Trust me I will try anything I can lol! Speed freaks is what we are, highly competitive at that! !

Times coming soon. ?..

Auditude any update on this? Can you PM me details if your not ready to post up yet…

Would want a protector piece as well if possible like the AWE kit.

I take it you are planning to assemble a kit yourself? I may be interested in doing this as well.
