Cylinder Numbering Question

I’m in the process of replacing the timing chain on my B7 S4, but when I installed the crankshaft locking tool it appeared as though cylinders number 2 and 8 were at TDC and there were no other notches for the tool when what I believe to be cylinder 1 is at TDC.
I was wondering if perhaps I’m looking at this wrong or if there’s some other issue here. The cylinder numbering is 1234 on the passenger side with 1 closer to the front of the car and 5678 on the driver side with 5 closer to the front of the car. Is this correct?

Yes

4 8
3 7
2 6
1 5
FRONT

You are goos man, cylinder 2 and 8 should be up.

Below is the engine with pin installed, it is confusing if you focus on cylinder orientation

This is Right. TDC is represented by cylinder 2 not cylinder 1 like in other cases.

Thanks guys.
