Data Log Compilation

Is there one for RS owners to compare against each other?
Also maybe acceleration rate comparison?

Thanks

nope

you can start one. Only thing is you will get nitwits cheating to look fast lol. Happens in the B5 world. Turned logging into a dick swinging contest for guys who were scared to go to the strip.

PM me something and I’ll do the same if you want

If I did start a thread it would only consist of b7 RS4.
I haven’t data loged yet, but I can tell you it’s pulling strong! It would be nice for us to know what different mods affect the data. I might log tomorrow , after work. I’ll send you my results.

One way to standardise datalogging would be to restrict data logs to cars that have run at the strip and/or preferably obtaining logs at the strip. Whilst not all strips are made equal, NHRA/IHRA strip should be pretty close regarding gradients etc…

It is hard to verify logs but I’d be willing to share mine for comparison purposes. There’s a few beside myself who I would trust not to modify or change their data. It’s not like anyone’s going to win a cash prize for having the most g/s or tq value lol. 3k-8K times etc. How much timing is being pulled etc etc.

If Saki is volunteering to compile them I’ll start sending logs I have and the new ones I’ll be doing tomorrow or Sunday night.

I have:

Old motor. (Bone stock)
Old motor pre carbon clean
Old motor post carbon clean
Old motor with Tubi mufflers, LW rotors and K&N intake

New motor with Tubi mufflers, LW rotors and K&N intake + carbon lol
Will have this weekend - New motor with the above plus CC, JHM LWCP, JHM intake spacers, 034 maf hose, new maintenance items

Good as ill post mine right here when I log this weekend.

no chance I will compile them lol…sounds like a nightmare

what are you guys going to log anyway? I just check rpms vs time, maybe timing pulled on bank one grp 020 and group 003 for throttle maf and timing request

logs seem to work best when its kept low key and non competitive I’ve found. I’ve been looking at other people’s logs for a few years for the V8 S4s and it can be quite a useful performance gauge but I keep them private.

Maybe if you guys just post the logs as is it’d be a good start, ie don’t attach an rpm/sec in your post just leave that for the reader to figure out.

Also if you guys were interested I can put in some time with the excel vba program I had started for log analysis. Basically it would filter data down and make a few charts as a start.

saki and beemer

I agree , im just going to post them up with whats done for reference but not going to group them as to help emliminate " swinging dick contest". I want to help the ones that might have a weak motor, new mods etc.
I will do some tonight and let you know.

Interested mate. As I said before I would pay ten bucks for it (beemercer’s excel idea), app store style. If we have a dozen guys here who do that it would at least pay for some of your tine, which is valuable.

I’m game. I already posted the only two data logs I had.

I won’t be back to my car till after the New Year though, so it’ll be awhile before I have anything to contribute. :-/

Ok so I logged a 3rd gear pull now I’m going to do an acceleration test from both 50 to 100 (3rd gear only) and 60 to 130 just for campairson to other vehicles.

Edit: I don’t about the 50 to 100 as it won’t register to 100 but my speedo does, so I guess what’s a good mph to mph test for everybody else?
Oh I did do 60/130 (started in 3rd) , came in at 10.9 seconds. (just found the APR’s sc rs4 went 10.2 for a reference.

ambient temp 75f
fuel level 1 dot below half (2/5 )
oil temp 201f

I always did a full 3rd gear pull, 1500rpm to 7200rpm. As long as people have similar tire sizes its pretty directly comparable

Or 8200 for the RS4

I’ll do this next time.
can someone offer to tell how to load my log?

10.9 60-130? :o

That’s only .78 sec’s slower than a tune/intake/exhaust Gallardo. Who I believe is hovering around 560HP. You sure that time is accurate??

Are you using VAG or a PBOX of sorts?

This is the typical standard for VAG logging. For the RS4 we measure time from 3K-8.2K in 3rd but often times the soft limiter kicks in around 8,080/8,100 and can screw things up a bit.

he is using vag

yea now I’m going to have to buy a vbox. I want to know my accurate time. I says +/- .034s

Just post on a local car forum that you want to pbox your car. Plenty of guys around there will have one. Save the five hundred bucks.
