Did a REVO tune kill a car in Dubai?

Hopefully he comes back with more information as he investigates the issue. I wonder what the gas quality is like over there. Advanced timing, knock desensitization, and poor fuel?

Am I just stirring up shit?

Lots of questions. ;D

Doubt it. Many of those drivers over there are insane! He was probably blew his engine on his own from abuse. Im sure that was not the first time he down-shifted bringing the engine beyond 8k rpms

My first guess is that he accidentally downshifted from 4th to 1st rather than 3rd- this is possible especially with the stock Shifter. By doing this he broke the bolt on his linkage which has to do with his transmission issue and his cracked block could be because of a hard over rev bc of the mis-downshift.

My second guess would be the tune. Revo messes with the OEM knock sensor capabilities. Almost as if the car is a little drunk of has a ‘buzz’. The knock sensors still work but are dumbed down. Revo timing on 93 is in like with APR’s and GIAC’s 100 file except if you try and run GIAC or APR 100 file on 93 you get loads of timing pull whereas Revo magically has none. Revo is practically untouchable in the cold however in the summer performance is drastically worse. A combination of too much timing advance, hot weather and dumbed down knock sensors also could have lead to this engine failure. However this guess would mean the transmission issues were coincidental.

As much as I want to knock (get it?) REVO and say that their ridiculous tune was the cause, I’m with bigserve betting he misshifted 4-1 and overreved big time.

Its doubt full it was the tune. There is a chance that it ran the block too hot and the guy was beating the piss out of his csr. Knowing revo happy tunes push hard on the timinv we dont know what else they back off of so that is a possobility…but you hve to r3ally be kicking the shit out of thr csr to get that to happen
