Does this sound normal

I have noticed this over the last few weeks(07’ Audi s6 v10) im not sure if its always been there or getting louder in the last few weeks. Im not sure its easy to hear in this video, but its like a constant whining noise, like a pump or something thats on the way out. It sounds louder than it should for sure. I cant place the noise, it sounds to be coming from the rear of the engine bay under the long plastic cover. and when i turn off the engine its like a flap closes and the noise stops

there is no codes being shown, there was a saved old cold relating to aircon when i bought it but it hasnt came back since last reset.

Any thoughts would be appreciated as im clueless with Audi’s so far until i figure them out

Pm Jimmybones and ask him if he’s heard this before

I think I know what noise your talking about. If you turn on the AC or the defraust the fan can kick on. If you turn one of those off can you get the noise to turn off. Or can you do something to get the noise to turn on and off. Also you have a noise filter connected to your air box that plums motor noise into the car that runs just under the plastic tray behind the fire wall. That could very eaisly be it if the hose came off.

When i was in getting a coolant leak fixed the shop said it sounds like its the secondary air pump thingy, its down on the LH side lower down behind the bumper. Its independent of any aircon setting, it can be loud some mornings on cold warm up or after a drive home when warmed up. They said its nothing to worry about, however there experience with s6’s is next to none, like most shops over here! i was told this system is something non critical that can be turned off via VCDS as its only really needed in cold climates? It could be a perished seal or diagphram within the pump, ill see can i price up the parts and see if its worth replacing

Not too sure it was the SAI as the SAI is only on for a few seconds after you start the car and it needs to be cold outside. Also it wont turn on if the car is already warmed up. The longest you will see the sai stay on is for about 2 min and thats on the long side.

That is not something you can turn off or that can be turned off in Vagcom. You can get a company like JHM to turn it off but I seriously dont think thats your problem
